Now What ????
This is long, but I want to share the story of what we have been through this year, and how wonderfully and blessed we all feel now. In August of 2000, two days before her 19th birthday, I found out my daughter was pregnant. I was devastated. We convinced her to go to her community college for one more semester, then move back home in December, when her semester was over. It was hard, being pregnant and going to school, but she made it through. We rearranged our house to welcome her back. I bought maternity clothes and baby things. She was very very careful to take care of herself throughout her pregnancy. On April 17, I was with her all night and the next day at noon my husband and I welcomed our new granddaughter into the world. I was terrified about my daughter being a mother and trying to build a life for herself and the baby. Later that night, the doctor discovered that the baby had a heart defect and she was medflighted to a medical facility 100 miles from our home. Five days later she had open heart surgery, and my daughter and I stayed at Ronald McDonald house for 10 days while the baby recovered. My daughter pumped her breasts 3 times a day so that she could nurse the baby. She stayed with her most of the day and a lot of the night. She held the baby while the doctor took the chest tubes out of the baby's chest when I had to leave the room. To make a too-long story shorter, the baby is now healthy and wonderful and I couldn't imagine my life without her! My daughter is a marvelous mother, and she never has to ask because her dad and I tell her often how incredible a mother she is. I, on the other hand, cannot remember ever asking my father if I was a good mother, though I love my father dearly and we have a decent relationship. I've definitely had many days when I wondered if I was doing the right things with my children. Parenting is not easy. When we are young, we look up to our parents as being perfect and having all the answers. But when we have children ourselves, it seems like a grand experiment. "Well, try this and if it works, great, if it doesn't, try something else." We can only do the best we can. That is what I tell my daughter. I support her in all her endeavors (she just started back to school). I am just joyous to have this time with my precious grandchild, knowing that one day they will move out and I won't get to have such an active part in their lives. My 2 cents... Rene'

Hey Jan, One of your Kennedy's married one of them Dortch's over in Stewart County....yeah????? Dave
Jean, Here's the problem with the Pierces and particularly Martha Angeline........ There are 2 main Pierce lines the area....between Henry and Benton Counties..just like there are 3 main Dortch lines that run in the area and up into Kentucky.......the Pierce lines are obviously related, but back in N.Carolina and Kentucky.... Haven't been able to determine whether the lines are brothers or cousins.....one is the John Pierce-Rachael Ross line and the other is your Stephen Pierce-Lavinia Geers line..........there also were a couple other lines that moved in and out of the area. Dallas....can you help her here ???? You and I discussed this Pierce line before and I can't find my records....Martha Angeline is part of Kiziahs' line down the road.....and I can't find the connection right now.....but I've stumbled with Martha a number of times.......she's involved with the Coopers and McDaniels....just don't remember where or when (old age I guess).... Any of you 'old time' Pierce researchers able to help......???? Some sank deep roots and others moved on, scattering our ancestors from coast to coast. Our purpose is to have fun, get acquainted, and swap genealogical information. The above is a list of the families which we know for sure had ties in early East Tennessee and the ones we have some information on. However, (Sorry all surnames are CLOSED Now) Contact Carl at <CousinsCom2@hotmail.com> or Terri at <CousinsCom1@hotmail.com>. All we ask is that you be willing to act as host or hostess/greeter for your surname and to share whatever info you have available. ALL surnames are welcome to attend whether your name is listed here or not! There will be a wealth of information to share. Plan on attending please! We Do Need A Head Count, To, NOT over book, However. (Numbers of persons coming) is needed. We would love to have volunteers for all the names on the list (except Brown and Coffman, which we have well-covered) to act as co-hosts/co-hostesses to greet and help people with their surname feel welcome and to help them meet researchers working on the same surname. To those of you with East TN roots who don't have much extended family and therefore don't have a reunion, this is your chance to bring your immediate family members and join ours. We want everyone to have fun, feel welcomed, and enjoy themselves. **That's What Tennessee Stands For: THE VOLUNTEER STATE ** "Where pride walks and the flag flies!"** We know that we have some college instructors attending who perhaps can be persuaded to speak. We also have experts and accredited genealogist who have been researching for 30 plus years. They are ready to share their information with us. ---------------------- Attendance is FREE . . . but we will have a "donation" jar to offset the cost for using the campground, tableware, entertainment, and clean up. PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING AND BRING: 1. First and foremost yourselves... 2. ALL BOOKS, BIBLES, PICTURES, FAMILY SHEETS, AND INFORMATION YOU HAVE AVAILABLE... 3. A covered dish to share. Drinks, ice chest 5. A chair or blanket to sit on...If you are serving as a host or hostess, you will also need a small table (card table size or larger) to display your family information on. -------------------------- Last year was our first attempt to pull all these early settlers' descendants together. As far as we knew, it had never been attempted before. It was a resounding success for a first attempt, and it was agreed that it should become an annual event. This area is so very rich in history, both as an Indian frontier and as an isolated jewel of Union sympathy during the Civil War. It also served as a departure point for westward movement and new settlement. Our ancestors left us a rich heritage, which we are striving to preserve and pass on to our children and grandchildren. This rich tapestry of ideals and values is what made us a great nation and what made each of us what we are today. And it began with our earliest immigrant ancestors who came here to start a new life and a new country. COME and SHARE that heritage with us on July 13-14. We are looking forward to making many new friends!! Sincerely, Terri Brown Jurca: <CousinsCom1@hotmail.com>, 5509 Paula Rd., Knoxville, Tn 37912 Carl Coffman: <CousinsCom2@hotmail.com> 1448 S.
