David, I have Rightman Hilliard born c. 1763 in Wake Co, NC who migrated to Carroll Co, TN around 1828. My parents still live on the land he bought then. That's my side. I also have a Jeremiah Hilliard from the early 1700s who had a son named Philemon c. 1757 in Kershaw Co, SC whose descendants traveled to Madison Co, AL and then some to Fayette Co, TN. Where to start?---In 1997, a 9-year-old boy was in Vanderbilt Hospital. Jason Kelly had been diagnosed with cancer. While he was undergoing various treatments and his mother (a nurse) stayed by his side, his brother Justin was involved in an accident that left him paralyzed from the waste down. (A tree fell on Justin--I don't know the details.) Jason lost his fight with cancer in July, 1997. On Thursday, Feb 7th, Justin Kelly has to have surgery on his spine. (Doctors have to install pins to stop his spine from curving.) He will need blood-----O positive---if anyone wants to donate. Also, he would appreciate cards. The doctors don't know how long Justin will have to be in Vanderbilt. He's not too happy about the surgery but understands the necessity for it and also knows he could possibly wind up being more paralyzed than he is now. (Mother says that cards addressed to Justin Kelly, Vanderbilt Medical Center "should" get to him as he will be in critical care for a few days.) Sandy Ellis

This is only a slim lead, but an "aunt T" Cherry took care of my grandmother Sarah Lindsey for several years (about 1919-1924) in Big Sandy before Sarah Lindsey died of T.B. in 1924. Aunt T Cherry lived until the mid 1950's I believe when she was in her 80's. Any possible connections there. Dave, I have the map, I just thought, there might be another, smaller creek named big Sandy. I received a hand written journal, from a historian, written in 1905. those were the words written in the journal. I have hit a wall . I can't seem to get past Henry Co. & Thomas Moody. And now for my next question....seems a researcher out there thinks she is descended from one of those poor ladies hung in Salem. Now that is reasonable, and she might be correct. It is not my line, so I have not checked her data, other than to be politely and genuinely interested. But now I am wondering ....do we have any DC folks who have chased a line back to Salem??
