    3. There's Annie Underwood that married JohnWaynick. Their picture is on the Dickson County Web site now. I don't have alot of info. on them and don't know if they connect to the same Underwoods that ya'll are searching, Annie was born in 1857. After marrying John they lived on the edge of Dickson/Houston Counties at "Chicken Foot". Annies mother was Nancy Underwood. Hope this helps a little. 2. Dave: Quick note before you do anything with your problem. PowerQuest has a couple of programs that might bail you out. One is "Lost and Found" . It's a one time shot for just the computer your working with. Their phone number in case your interested is: 801-437-8900 or 1-800-379-2566. They have a web page: www.powerquest.com or lostandfound@powerquest.com. They are very helpful folks. Will work with you resolving your problem and even follow up with you in a couple of weeks. They also have a commercial version, which I use (because of a server and several computers ) and you can switch back and forth and use it on any system you own. Passing this along, because Microsoft 2000 corrupted 431 pages of one book I had written in the old "Wordstar" format. Recovered 99% of it. Hope this help a little. Losing anything isn't a pleasant experience, but I believe you will be very happy with what these programs can do for you. Regards and have a nice weekend, Vernon

    2. Joetta, The Tippitt family has someone buried in the (Dinkins )cemetery. They are related distantly. My family is the Walker, Rorie, Abney, Canaday clan from the Indian Mound area. Then my Grandfather married a lady from Montgomery county and the family also became the Hodges, Baggett, Morrisett, Davis, Russell family, too. Thank you for your help in answering my questions. I hope to be able to return the favor someday. Sincerely, Stan Magnesen Yelowstone@aol.com

    1. Re: Legate's
    2. Stan, The cemetery is named the Dinkins Cemetery because Mr. Dinkins gave the land for the cemetery. He and his wife are basically the grandparents of the community. You can find them in the Stewart County Historical Book and in Godspeed (if my memory serves me). My husband is a decendant of theirs. I am not sure if everyone in the cemetery is related or not. It started out to be a family cemetery. I am not sure if it remained a family cemetery. I have heard stories that it did not. Just let me know who you are looking for, I might be able to help you. Also chances are if you are looking for this cemetery, you are probably kin. Hope this helps Joetta

    2. Kimberly. I believe that Joetta did answer my question. I have found that many cemeteries are named after the oldest known grave in that location. This may be the case here. I questioned the name of this cemetery for this reason. Thanks for your speedy and friendly response. 2. Joetta, I believe that you have already answered my question. I have been in this cemetery but did not know the name of it. If my memory serves me correctly, there are some members of the Dinkins family buried there, and some Tippit people, also. The cemetey I was asking about is just about 1/4 mile north of the Dover Hwy at the community of Legate. Thank you for your kind assistance. (By the way, at the same time a Winters was married---Clemmie Winters to J.R. There is a Smith Cemetery located as they say on "Paul Lyles Property". the map shows it to be near the Stewart County Line almost due north of Erin. They did not publish the book with individual listing of each Cemetery, but listed all the people in alphabetical order, I'll try to go through and send you a list of the Baggetts and Reynolds listed in the smith Cemetery. She was the daughter of Able K. Rushing and Ann unknown and a sister to Nancy A. Sis Rushing. I cannot find a connection back of Able K. and Ann Rushing I do know that Able K was about 10 years younger than Ann, and after they had 5 children he died before he was 25 years old. I do know that Ann was born in Kentucky. Also after she died between 1874 and 1877, without remarrying, the 3 Girls got into a serious lawsuit in Houston County and all way to supreme Court in Nashville. BTW the best I can figure he was about 15 or 16 when their first Child (my Great Grandmother Arilda Jane was born) She married Lemuel Allsbrooks Bell my Great Grandfather, I have a story to tell about him and how he was killed during the Civil War. 2. CoraLynn McKelvy
    3. I'm taking a couple leaps of faith here, I know, but want to see what others think of my train of thought. I know that Little Bryant PIERCE b.12 Oct 1867 d.1940 m.27 Sep 1888 Elizabeth Angeline ROGERS was in the line I'm searching. Family story is that his mother was "Puss" JORDAN PIERCE & he had a sister Josephine. I went to Benton co. Census records.... Found that 1870 Census p.279 Dwelling No. 105 (where is this?) there is a Bryant PIERCE, Susan (wife), Dolia 12, Josephine 7, L.B. 3. Leap of faith is that this probably is my Little Bryant. Too far a leap? How common was the name Bryant in Benton Co. during the early 1800s? Seems enough non-standard that probability is high that this is the right family. No???? Going to Sistler's I find BRL PIERCE m.29 Jan 1857 Susan E. JORDAN. Is probability good that she is my "Puss" JORDAN PIERCE? Going back to the census records for the next generation back I find in 1850 a Berry PIERCE b.NC @1804, wife Matilda b.TN, Bryant 19, William 17, Ansel 12, Rosannah 6. Again a leap that this is my Bryant. So.......what does everyone think of my reasonings & conclusions? Any suggestions on how I go about verifying all this? especially from long distance? Thanks, CoraLynn ne TN cmckelvy@usa.net
