Folks, As a Public Service, you need to be aware of a potentially serious health problem that is developing in this country that could affect you personally, particularly in Tennessee. The Center for Disease Control reported yesterday that in the last 3 years, the number of cases of streptococcus pneumoniae bacterium that proved resistant to antibiotics has increased to 25% overall and growing. It is particularly bad in Tennessee, where over 38.3% (4 in 10) of cases are untreatable with penicillin or other antibiotics. "Streptococcus pneumoniae bacterium" is the bacteria that causes pneumonia, meningitis and other serious illnesses. You can read the Associated Press story at: http://www.tampabayonline.net/news/news102b.htm With the 'Flesh Eating Bacteria" over in Kentucky, what's going on over there ???? What's next, "Ebola Virus" outbreaks in Arkansas ?? Take care, Dave
Dave, I have not received the e-mail either. Thanks for the warning. Randy
Thankfully I did not recieve this file but I do have a question that maybe someone can help me with. I did get a file I do want to open but can't. It tells me "This file is not valid The file must have the extension. SET." It is a GED file so what do I do or is it somethingthing the person who set it has to do. I assume it is me since she can open it and I cant. Thanks for any help Lucille -----Original Message-----

Carolyn, Yes I can tell you who June Sykes was. She was the daughter of Dewey Elmer Sykes born 1898 and Beatrice Tubbs born 1904 IF this is the same June Sykes and I am suspecting it is. Max married June Sykes February 2, 1946 and he died in Murray Ky. in 1973, they had children, two girls and far as I know this brother did not join the others in the Frosty Morn Co...Snip Whitford by the way was the brother of my uncle, Glenn Whitford who married my aunt Hazel Dennis. I can talk to my aunt, as she is still living. I have heard her mention Snip many times. Snip was Glenn's much younger brother as Glenn was born in 1904...have pics of him if you wish copies. And Kathy told you right on Hubert and George Madison Sykes too. Let me know if you want any more info on those Whitfords...can find out in a phone call a lot of it I believe. jan ----- Original Message ----- From: <Familybuff@cs.com> To: <DanvilleCrossing-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 05, 1999 6:50 PM Subject: Sykes Family > Have some "Sykes" questions for any and all out there. > Hubert Sykes m. Dave, I watch all of my emails so I'm positive I didn't get it. Sorry you did, beat it was a mess. It takes a sorry person to do that to someone's computer knowing what they're doing!! I did not get it. I think that rootsweb bounces back any mail with attachments to the listowner or sends them back to the source. They do not come across the lists. I'm not saying it's impossible but highly unlikely. Mary Russell bird@scrtc.com
I thought the message that contained the attachment was very strange. It said nothing, had no message or hint of what the attachment contained, just had the person's name and the attachment. I have software that had limited installations and can't afford to take a chance on loosing it to a virus. I, therefore, do not open any attachments. Lillie

Does anyone have a Susan Mitchell, b. 1843, m. 1) Franklin Burton 7 Dec. 1864, 2) Isaac Hardin 3 Dec. 1869. Both of these marriages were in Benton Co., TN. I would like to know the parents of Susan Mitchell. Isaac and Susan Hardin are my gg-grandparents. Lillie Cotham

Dave, I received this as an attachment also. I believe it said it was a Winword attachment. I wanted to open it, but decided to delete it instead. I am certainly glad I did. The attachment had no explanation at all of what it might contain. I was rather like throwing away an unopened letter, but I did and now I am glad. I am wondering if all on the DC list received this email. It is a shame that some people have to try so hard to destroy what others have. Thanks for posting--I am sorry for your troubles. Lillie
Didn't detect a thing. Don't know if this was a virus or not, but it was nasty. Or it just could have been a software conflict within my own system that went 'nuts' with this file. Will try and find though......... Me too David!! I haven't noticed any paperclip icons that I wasn't already expecting. But thanks for the heads up. I am so sorry you had to get zapped to save us. Marsha
I may have, but don't read email from the list closely unless I see an interest. Cindy in Hawaii > -----Original Message----- > From: David L.
