    1. [DC] Townzens/Wilsons of Stewart Co and Henry Co
    2. Hi to all!!!!! I am researching the John Townzens and his son Thomas Townzens that lived in Stewart Co in the 1820s and Henry Co in the 1830s. Thomas' daughter married Andrew L Wilson in abt 1832 or 33. I have no clues on Andrew's family. Does anyone outthere have a Wilson who would have a 20 yr old son in 1833 in Henry Co. They later migrated to Ark. Any help will be most appreciated. I believe the Townzens were friends with the Brittain Sextons of that area. TIA, Yvonne Simpson

I hoped to clean around my great grandfather's family graves. He was John B. I visited there last summer and the cemetery was a mess and I wanted to at least clean around my great grandfather's grave site. Someone had cleaned, fenced, and done an amazing job of restoring the old cemetery. They had even put a marble slab at the head of each unmarked grave in the cemetery. I inquired as to who had done this outstanding job on the cemetery but was unable to find out who the persons were. If a person wanted to inventory the cemetery it would be and easy task now. 1. [DC] Craig's of Stewart, Humphreys, and Benton County TN
    2. Penny Wilson
    3. I have been researching my Craig family from the Danville Crossing area. Does anyone know anything about a Thomas Craig (my gr gr grandfather) born 1806 in TN who was living in Benton County in 1850 (on census there) with second wife Sarah Allen? 1850 Benton County TN census info: Thomas Craig age 44 TN occupation: miller Sarah (Allen) age 37 NC Martha age 11 TN Mary Elizabeth age 9 TN states she attended school both of these two daughters were by his 1st wife (unknown) Angeline age 6 TN Charlotte age 1 TN Susan Craig age 21 TN (it was listed like this on the census and I think she may be a relative & not a daughter) Also on line 12 of the census are marks for Sarah Allen Craig and Susan Craig but I can't make out what it means at the top of the census page. Can someone tell me what it says if they have a copy of the Benton County census (line 12). It look like it starts with a "p". He died in 1854 in Benton County TN and his wife was in another household on the 1860 census listed as in the poorhouse but none of the chldren were with her. Does anyone know of any epidemics that came thru the area in 1854 that might have killed Thomas and the 2 younger children? Also in the same area were a Eli Green Craig and a Charles Freeman Craig and over in Caroll County close to them across the county line was Asa Craig and he went back to Illinois in 1860, he was in IL in 1840 (after the 1860 TN census) and died there in December of 1860 and is buried in the Craig cemetery in Fayette County IL. >From an unproven source it is stated that Thomas, Eli, Charles and Asa were all brothers and their father was a James Craig who married Susannah Cottingim (Cottingham?) in 1804 in Stewart County TN. They never provided any proof to me of this. Does anyone have any information on this family? Any help such as migration patterns of families as the Civil War started or anything about Mills where he might have worked would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much... Penny Wilson

    2. ok, sometimes things get posted to a list that may not be genealogy. But then at the same time, everyone "flames" the list talking about what the list is intended for. Therefor We now have twice as much "junk" mail than we really wanted. So, if you read something that you dont think is appropriate for the list, PLEASE let the listowner or acting listowners deal with it OFF THE LIST....remember you praise in public and condemn in private... 3. Well... Sandy you have some excellent ideas... But, I can tell you the logistics of this was like moving the military across Iraq... This was particularly had with several changes of committee members... and Dad's illness... impeding me... We don't have any CLOSE locals to help.. Linda was the closest and bless her heart she had major health issues in her family to address... while she was trying to run to Dover and scout for other future sites.... What we really need is LOCALS.... ALL of us on the committee are a great distance from the DC area.... Any DC LOCALS volunteering?????? The idea of it being every other year..was so we would get the turnout we want... the idea of moving it from county to county was good... if we can get the appropriate housing... restaurants..ect... Course if you arent interested in DIckson..then you wouldnt be coming that year...or if it was Stewart you Dicksonites might not come.... What is your take on it??? Lets talk about it.
