Thanks Jeanette! I wish there was some way I could contribute to the list. If anyone needs help with ancestors in Chicago I will try and help. Since my kids are still young and not in school yet...its been kind of hard to get to the wonderful libraries in the area....but I will try and help any way I can. :) Colleen On Tue, 22 Aug 2000 13:47:15 -0400 Jeanette Duncan <[email protected]> writes: > Hi Colleen: > > Yahoo Yellow Pages has the address and phone number for the First > Christian Church > as below. Colleen--- See? I told you that all you have to do is tell something about who you are looking for! Looks like you've already found "family" and have offers of look-ups! Now, don't forget to check all the web sites---you might just get lucky again! Sandy Ellis
What county in Tennessee does Colleen need for a cemetery look up? I have the 2 cenetery books for Humphreys County. I found my grandparents who were born in 1891 and 1888 listed but no parents or siblings listed with them. Jessie
That's good to know because I'm new to the list and I almost unsubscribed. I'm looking for information on the Cavitt/Cavette/Cavett family from Henry County. My ggrandfather was Frank Cavette who married Susie Cook probably around 1870. My grandfather was Edward Houston Cavitt (they kept changing the spelling of the name), born in 1874. He had twin brothers (Wrather and Dawson) who were both killed in Kentucky in 1911 & 1913. There were also brothers Eugene, Walter and sister Edna. If anyone has any information on this family, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. > -----Original Message----- > From: Marietta Sexton [SMTP:[email protected]] > Sent: Monday, August 21, 2000 10:58 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [DC] Oops > > Apologies are unessary, Coleen....Henry County IS a part of Danville > Crossing list. > > ---------- > > I sent a lot of information before and I couldn't figure out how to > > retrieve it. I havn't seen this Coppedge book either but I have heard about it. Looks like we going to have to check out the Stewert Times and see if there is any information or photo's to be found. Who knows....maybe they kept photo's of their employees. Did the Coppedge's in your line have a "James Ivan (?) Coppedge" in their line anywhere? I just discovered his name. Hi Jeanette! How exciting! Wouldn't it be something is we were somehow distantly related? I just discovered Catherine Scarborough name so I don't have much on her.....yet! :) I just love this stuff. Anyways..... Yep Aunt Mattie COPPEDGE was a member of the Christian Church of Dover. The story given to me by my mother, is that my father threw up quite a ruckus in the church when he found out she left everything to them. So....the pastors and any witness's who remember that might have a bad taste in their mouth when they remember "Billy F. Coppedge". How would I find the Stewert County Burial Book if someone on the list doesn't have one? Ask aunt Lucy if she remembers any of them: Clayton Coppedge; Minnie Brewer Coppedge, Mattie Coppedge, Emily Coppedge Holiday or James Coppedge & Catherine Scarborough. :) Or the trouble maker (Billy Frank Coppedge) Its amazing how them older folks can remember the past sometimes. MY 75 year old father n law can remember things from the past soooo well. Talk to you all soon! Colleen, My ggrandmother was Samantha Coppedge daughter of Alexander Humphrey Coppedge and Emeline Elliot. From the 1850 census of Stewart Co., TN. By the way the my great grandfather Samuel James Highsmith Samantha's husband was also connected the Stewert County Times. There is a book out on the Coppedges I have not seen it yet.
