Thanks Jan. I forgot that Fanny Wall was my aunt Lucy Dennis mother. Shame on me. I just don't have the Dennis entered into my ftm yet. Have you gotten your Dennis straightened out yet? William A. Wall married 3 times, Emelia Stalls July 20, 1850, Rachel M. Atkins Nov. 14, 1857 then after Rachel died he married her sister Mary P. Atkins Apr. 6, 1867. Cher TipWorld - http://www.tipworld.com The Internet's #1 Source for Computer Tips, News, and Gossip And now for today's tip... IDENTIFYING PEOPLE IN OLD PHOTOGRAPHS Identifying people in old photographs can always be challenging. In order to find out who they are, copy the pictures, distribute them to other family members (especially the older ones), and ask if they can identify them. You can also scan the pictures and publish them on genealogy Web sites, such as the USGenWeb. If there's a photographer listed on the pictures, find out if the photography studio still exists, or see if the pictures have been catalogued and are available in a public library. It may also help to determine the time period in which the photos were taken. Observe the style of dress, the type of picture, or the materials used for making the picture.
Appreciate for your response. You are right, it doesn't look like either of the two Margaret E. DAVISes that you mention are the one who married Lewis BEASLEY in 1863. Sure wish I knew who she was. Davis, but we have two Margaret Elizabeth Davis's in my husband's family. One born 9/2/1839 in Henry County. Her brother Elbert Eldridge Davis also had a daughter Margaret Elizabeth Davis born 6/9/1860. The father of Margaret Elizabeth and Elbert Eldridge was Lewis Davis, Jr. His father of course was Lewis Davis, Sr., first appearing in Stewart county, then in Henry county after Henry county was formed. Lewis, Jr. had two brothers James and John Adam. Since Margaret Elizabeth seems to be a family name maybe one of these was in Stewart county. As I said these do not seem to be you Margaret E. Davis but maybe the info will give some clues. I would like to find Lewis Davis, Sr. parents, but they are probably in Orange County,NC. Also do not have much information on Lewis Davis, Jr.'s siblings. >>

It is wonderful to see this list "hopping" again!!!! Winter is coming on and I have no doubt it will continue to "hop". However, inevitably this surprises some folks who are unprepared for the amount of mail...and when it does there IS an answer! When things are hopping and you wish to stay on this list but not receive so much mail, the way to go is "digest"...one message per day containing all messages...here is how: To unsub from list send e-mail to [email protected], and place word "unsubscribe" in subject line. To sub back to digest, send email to [email protected] placing word "subscribe" in subject line.
Hi, Jan My name is Jeanne, My e-mail address reads Raymond though, I really wish my kids had just picked a non specific address. People miss reading my name in msgs all the time. Hey, I don't care, as long as I get answers! I don't know of a Lester, but then I know so little about my grandpa's line. I thought there were only the two brothers but according to some relatives, there were some cousins. Does Lester have a brother Roy? There was a family from Ashland City that contacted my aunt, and my uncle said he was a cousin. I just looked on Houston 1920 census, is your Lester the "Luster" age 8? I think the Roy Coakley I've some relation to is the son of that Henry which would make "Luster" and Henry brothers. I'll send you what I have off list. Maybe we do have a connection. Hope so, Jeanne > Raymond, > Do you have a Lester Coakley in your line, born early in the 1900's who > married a Brake? If so, you are a cousin. > > jan

Sorry, didn't say everything I wanted to.. I would be glad to see what you have, if nothing else for future reference, in case I find something... Thank you, Wilma
I'm sure some of the Moore's in and around Benton Co. at that time have to be related to my Moores in some way..The problem is I have nothing to go on except the name of my grandfather Benjamin S. , his father George and mother Martha. I have no idea what her maiden name was, or what other family they were connected to..I am in the process of trying to get Benjamin's birth cert., but know the chances are very slim that there will be any records that early.. Thanks for your reply, but of course can't recognize any of the names... Wilma Moore Sanford

Hello Folks, Have been watching this list for quite some time, but don't beleive I've ever posted anything as yet..But then the search for my Moore family has been long and hard, so possibly could have and forgotten....I continued to monitor the list because of the friendliness and warmth all of you seem to have for each other....like family. So I hope someone out there can help me with some information...Because I have very little to go on... I'm looking for family of my grandfather... Benjamin S. Moore...b. Benton Co. Tn. 11-4-1841..he faught in the Civil War and I have his war records....Information on his d. cert (he died in Okla. 1933) list his father as George b. Tn. and mother Martha b. NC..thats all I have on them.. Benjamin was found on the Benton Co. census in 1870 along with a Nancy whom I beleive to be his sister, some children and a Martha in her 50's b. NC, whom I am sure is his mother....After that nothing...and I might add, nothing before that, alto I am sure he was in that same area all his life up until that point.. I desperately need to find George and Martha and siblings... Thanks for any help you can give me.. God Bless, Wilma Moore Sanford
