    1. [DANIEL-L] Re:HUDSON -HEERSON et al
    2. John, I can answer this one quickly while I dig for some timeline data on the other HUDSONs. Christopher HUDSON, Jr was first cousin of Robert HUDSON, Jr (hubbie #1 of Rhoda DANIEL).. (Their fathers, Christopher Sr and Robert Sr, were brothers). Christopher Jr md Hannah WERTSCH the widow of Herson HEERSON (aka HERSON etc). As to Rhoda's "will" Judy is correct - it is entitled a DEED OF GIFT and was written just before we start seeing deeds naming Rhoda and Nathaniel HUDSON together. I suspect Rhoda was ensuring that the four children of Robert Jr received what was acquired during their marriage. Robert Sr owned/operated Hudson's Ferry and was forever deeding stuff to his grandkids. Regarding Capt Nathaniel HUDSON: Can you point me to the data naming Capt Nathaniel Green HUDSON as the same Nathaniel HUDSON, J.P in Effingham/Screven Counties.... You are also correct that a bunch of families from Pitt Co NC went to Effingham/Screven but there were also those earlier on from VA. The HUDSONs, for example, first acquired land in old Halifax (Burke Co) in 1753. thanx joni There is one HUDSON marriage from these records that if I were you, I would take a close look at but I would not trust this transcription, one bit. I would look at the name, HARRISON, if I were you. However, this marriage is reported as: Hudson, Christopher marr Heersseen, Hannah 03/06/1798 This is one of the problems we face when people transcribe records and have no idea the names of families who lived in that area.
