Good Morning, The primary reason I listed all of that Upper Neck and Augusta County, VA information was several fold. The primary reason was all of their connections to the CUNNINGHAM family and the links back in the McDONALDS, DONALDSONS and DONNELLYS listed in this information to other families of the area, as well as to locations in VA and PA that are DANIEL specific locations. The one thing I noticed most of all in this information is -- there was not a DANIEL found in any of this information. About the closest thing to a DANIEL was a DONALD. I also noticed the spelling of a families name in these civil records was not consistent. In some records, MCDONALD became DONALDSON in the next record and then, even, DONNELLY, in the next. Personally, I cannot tell anything about the family links for some of these records, other than what they say. What they say, is probably accurate but the spelling of the surname listed in these records is probably not. We know the DANIEL family that is generally tied to the FITZPATRICKS and since this family is tied to the SEVIERS and BRECKENRIDGES, any DANIEL related family is probably part of this same overall DANIEL family -- the Woodson-Daniel bunch originally from down around Henrico, later Cumberland and Goochland. One of the specific families I was looking for in this Augusta County, Va information was the family of Capt. Allen DANIEL of Elbert and Madison County, GA but they were not there, which reinforces my opinion they were probably a part of this Woodson-Daniel bunch. In my opinion, any DANIEL family tied to the FITZPATRICKS, PERKINS, FIELDS, ALLENS were more than likely a part of this Southside, VA family but that is just a guess. Regardless, I found no record that even implied that Capt. Allen DANIEL RS-VA was from Augusta County, VA, which is a location that some have listed for him. Nor, did I find the given name, Allen, listed for any for any McDONALD, DONALDSON or DONNELLY from this area. There were two interesting things I found in these records. One, a Randal McDONALD lived in the Augusta County, VA area and a Randal McDONALD supposedly died in Burke County, GA in a slightly later time frame. Also, the name Robert DONALDSON was a given name in that area and a Robert DONALDSON, a Baptist Minister, was an early settler of Jefferson County, GA. Was there a link between these two? That, I do not know, because of the inconsistent surname spellings encountered in these Augusta County, VA records. The one thing that seems to be consistent is the relationship between the CHRISTIANS, FLEMMINGS and their related families. Many of these folks migrated to the Knoxville, TN area in a later time frame and this seems to support my general believe that Augusta and Upper Neck, VA folks later migrated to TN, KY and points west, as opposed to moving south into GA. As for the CUNNINGHAMS and their connections to the DANIEL family of Wilkes/Greene County, GA, I can not say this KELSO-DANIEL-CUNNINGHAM family was a part of these McDONALDS, DONALDSONS of DONELLYS of this area of VA but it sure leaves that impression. However, I did see a PRICE connection in this bunch and that may point back to Middlesex County, VA. Regardless, I think the overall Irish flavor seen in many of these families was pretty consistent and the COFFEE/COFFEY family, as well as the CUNNINGHAMS and even the DANIEL family of Middlesex are either of Irish descent or thought to be of Irish descent. Whether their name was originally McDONALD, DONALD, DONALDSON or DONNELLY, I do not know. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA
