John, Can you or any other list member tell me anything about the Drake Family (specifically Turner Drake) that started out in VA in the 1700's and wound up in Newton Co. GA in the 1800's, in connection with our DANIEL's? Thank you. Brenda in Alabama
Brenda, I do not have any DRAKES tied directly to a DANIEL family but I have some that were close. One of the early links to the DANIEL family was the Elizabeth TURNER who married Arthur JORDAN (1718-1793). Arthur was the brother of George JORDAN, III whose kids are all over my DANIEL bunch in east-central GA. Elizabeth was the d/o Joseph TURNER and Birchet LUNDY of Brunswick County, VA. Their children are listed below. Sorry but I do not have any of the names of their wives in this list. I have quite a few TURNERS around some close DANIEL families, like the HUNTS. The TURNERS are also around the PIERCE family of Greene County, GA and they point directly back at the ANDREWS family of Pitt County, NC. Prisa ANDREWS married William DANIEL, son of Capt. Robert Lanier DANIEL of Pitt. The ANDREWS are all over this bunch, including the DANIELS, WALLACES, SMITHWICKS, SWAINS/SWANNS, GARDNERS, etc, out of Pitt and Beaufort and we already know about the JORDAN connection to this overall bunch...... Sorry I could not be more helpful. Were any of these DRAKES, Methodist? If so, take a gander at the Oxford Cemetery in Newton County, GA. All the big Methodists are buried, there. <<< Children Elizabeth TURNER b: 1734 in Brunswick, Surry Co., VA James TURNER b: ABT. 1729 in Isle of Wight Co., VA Simon TURNER b: ABT. 1728 in Isle of Wight Co., VA John TURNER b: ABT. 1726 in Isle of Wight Co., VA Ann TURNER b: ABT. 1732 in Isle of Wight Co., VA Sarah TURNER b: ABT. 1733 in VA Mary TURNER b: ABT. 1732 in Isle of Wight Co., VA Burchett TURNER b: ABT. 1731 in Isle of Wight Co., VA >>> John R.
