    3. Jack, The profession of this 1672 John RUSSELL was listed as being a doctor, not a domestic. I also wonder if that Joane YOUNGE listed in Pam's transcription of this document is really John YOUNG. I do not remember ever reading where they gave land grants if someone imported a lady and Joane is definitely a ladies name. The William COCKE also listed on this document as one of these 1672 "importees" also makes me think this boy was also not a domestic because the COCKES were one of the First Families of VA. I tend to think they all were either children, cousins or unrelated persons of the same name as those of already existing VA families who Capt. Bill brought over to the colonies in 1672. As I remember, they only gave land grants for people whose migration would benefit the colony, one way or another, in a professional sense. John R.
