Hi, I have heard of Yerby Daniel. I traced him a bit a dozen, or so years ago. If my memory is not playing me false, I think he went to Tennessee and then to Missouri. I even think that I was in contact with some of his descendents at one time, but the was quite a few years ago. Not sure if I made notes about my conversations with them but I generally do that. Unfortunately I have quite a few notebooks to search from my early years of doing research. I found mention of a Roan River between North Carolina and Tennessee, and of a Roane County, TN. Don't know if that helps. I have Shoemakers in Iredell from about 1770 on.
