    3. Well, Payne, you know how I closely watch family associations in these DANIEL families and Charles DANIEL (1773-ABT 1800) of Greene County, GA being a son of Thomas DANIEL and Sarah BURNEY of NC, makes no sense whatsoever to me, if he married Elizabeth COFFEE, d/o Peter COFFEE. However, it does make sense if Charles's mother was a RANDLE and Thomas was a VA DANIEL and not a NC DANIEL, which the BURNEY link seems to imply. Also note the many Charleston, SC connections in the family of William Coffee DANIEL (son of Charles and Elizabeth COFFEE of Greene County, GA) -- he married a SCREVEN girl whose family was out of Charleston and Charleston families are a big link in my bunch. Dr. William Coffee DANIEL I am pretty sure was the GA Senator William DANIEL of Savannah who interceded with the senate on behalf of the Methodist preacher, whom Judge L. Q. C. LAMAR of Milledgeville, GA had condemned to death in 1832, only to find out later, he was innocent. Remember also, that Professor Winfield Montgomery RIVERS, who married the widow of Robert W. DANIEL (my GGF), was living with Sarah Williamson Bird LAMAR, Judge LAMAR's widow, in Newton County, GA in 1850. As you will note, my DANIEL bunch of Burke, later Jefferson County, GA matches the profile of this bunch from Greene County, GA to a tee and one of this Thomas and Sarah's kids of Greene County, GA were the great-grandparents of a girl, Mary Lou HUNTER, who married directly into my RICHTER family in Madison, through the RALLS (also a VA family), COLEMANS and DANIEL of Greensboro, Greene County, GA. So, I am already connected to this DANIEL bunch in Greene County, GA in one way but tis the other that interests me..... My bet is that my family of Burke County, GA is related in some way to these Greene County, GA folks, either through Thomas and Sarah or through the CUNNINGHAM-DANIEL bunch. However, it could be a class thing and not a family thing. However, there is a pretty good possibility that my bunch had links to the Upper Neck area of VA, maybe even Augusta County, VA, which may explain the RENEAU connection in this family. Also, Robert DANIELL's "O'DANIEL family of Fairfax County, VA" seems to be the only DANIEL related family that has links to both the names, ERWIN, TAYLOR and WISE, that I need for my bunch in Burke County, GA to fly. We also know this O'DANIEL family was from Fairfax County, VA, met the profile of my bunch and probably had many links into the Upper Neck area of VA. They later migrated down to GA through NC and my DANIEL or DANIELL bunch may well be a part of this migration but we cannot find the name, Robert, in this bunch. I think the answer to my bunch may be in correcting the DANIEL families of Greene County, GA - both of them. I think they are cobbled up, as they now stand, primarily because they do not make sense. 3. Can we have the best of both worlds. That is, Thomas was married to both gals. What stats do you have on the Burney gal and likewise on the Randall gal? Can they co-mingle in a relationship with Thomas? I enjoyed your possibilities and I will keep chewing on this stuff. Thanks to John and Mike for their thoughts on my Peter Daniel delema and to those of you who chipped in on my Marmaduke study. Lunch time ya'll. 1. Re: [DANIEL-L] Family Puzzler
    2. Robert Daniell
    3. John, In reference to your comment: "the "O'DANIEL family of Fairfax County, VA" seems to be the only DANIEL related family that has links to both the names, ERWIN, TAYLOR and WISE, that I need for my bunch in Burke County, GA to fly. We also know this O'DANIEL family was from Fairfax County, VA, met the profile of my bunch and probably had many links into the Upper Neck area of VA. They later migrated down to GA through NC." The families associated by marriage with the O'DANIELs in Fairfax Co., Va were MOXLEY, GLADIN, SCOTT, GUNNELL, RATCLIFFE, HURST, HALBERT, TALBERT (TALBOTT), McINTOSH, BRAKELY, , DENEALE,and JONES. We do not know the names of the wives of William II and James O'DANIEL. Other surnames associated with the O'DANIELs there were ALEXANDER, PAYNE, WREN, WEST, ELZEY, WASHINGTON, BOWLING, WISE, KING, GREEN, SUMMERS, NELSON, MASSEY, TURLEY, HAMPTON, FERGUSON, ASKIN, and TURNER. Among the next door neighbors were OWSLEY; Captain Daniel McCARTY, James HERREFORD, James CARROLL, George MASON and Colonel George ALLASON, ASHFORD, SUMMERS, SANDERS, and WINDSOR. The relationships with the BELLs, ERWINs, TAYLORs, RAIFORDs, POPEs, COOKs, HARDWICKs, etc. did not come to pass until after William II, James and their nephew William migrated into SC. So far, there is no indication that any of them actually stopped off in NC before continuing into and getting their land grants in SC in 1753-55. Why they went to SC directly is unknown, but William II and James appear to have done just that. Robert ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R.
