Good Morning, John MOORE (1755-1804) did not die in Pitt County, NC. He died in Jefferson County, GA in 1804. He did marry Winnie HARDAMAN, as you noted. Winnie was the d/o Thomas HARDAMAN RS-NC and Elizabeth. Some also list this John as a son of a John MOORE II and a Hannah HOLLINGSWORTH of Frederick County, VA but I believe this assignment is wrong. John MOORE was a brother of Samuel MOORE who married Arty HARDAMAN, Winnie's sister. I also believe both of them to be the children of Samuel MOORE born 1727 in Pitt County, NC, the son of Samuel MOORE (b. 1707, Berkeley Precinct, Princess Anne County, VA and died 1790 in Beaufort County, NC) and Sarah MOYE, d/o George MOYE, Sr. and UNK. I am unsure this Samuel and John MOORE, who married these two HARDAMAN girls, were the sons of this 1727 Samuel MOORE of Pitt County, NC but I am pretty sure they are out of this Pitt County, NC MOORE family for the following reason. Josiah SIRMANS also married one of these HARDAMAN girls and the SIRMANS, HARDAMANS, MOORES, MOYES and the DANIELS were all over each other in Pitt County, NC in the 1770-1790 time frame. We also know that Thomas HARDAMAN moved to Beaufort Precinct, SC before his move to GA and some of this same DANIEL family also moved to Beaufort District, SC, as did the TOMLINSONS, one of which also married one of these same HARDAMAN girls. In fact, it appears my paternal DANIEL family and maternal, TOMLINSON family, were all over each other in Pitt County, NC in the pre-1790 time frame, something I never considered. I am sure most Wiregrass researchers who are familiar with these families know of the marriage of Capt. John TOMLINSON RS-SC (1750-1801) and Rebecca Lucretia HARDAMAN, another HARDAMAN sister, but I am not sure they know of these connections extend all the way back to Pitt County, NC and how these other families are also involved in this equation. Capt. John TOMLINSON and Rebecca Lucretia HARDAMAN are my maternal 5th great-grandparents. My grandmother was a TOMLINSON, a daughter of Harris TOMLINSON (1852-1936) and Arlia Ann Barbara DAME (1854-1940) of Tomlinson, Clinch County, GA. I am not totally against the idea that Capt. Robert Lanier DANIEL (1718-1794) RS-NC of Pactolus, Pitt County, NC was not my paternal 3rd GGF. Somehow the CASONS also seem to fit into this equation but I do not know exactly how, yet. I do know that a daughter of John CASON, Sr. (1728-1816) and Eleanor PINKETT of Pitt County, NC "married a Robert DANIEL" but I am not unsure if this is the same Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) who migrates to Burke County, GA in 1812 from NC of his father, possibly Capt. RLD. Regardless, the person who appears to be RCD's son, Robert Williams DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA was my great grandfather. I also know that John CASON, Sr. died in Burke County, GA in 1816. John CASON, Sr. was also the father of Rachel CASON who married Colson ADAMS, Eleanor CASON who married James ALBRITTON, Jr., Jean CASON who married Colson's brother, Peter ADAMS, and Frances CASON who married John HATTON, another name all over these Pitt County, NC deeds. John CASON, Sr. was the son of William CASON and Jane Anne CANNON of Pitt County, NC, formerly Princess Anne County, VA. We also know the MOORES and MOYES moved from Princess Anne, along with the CANNONS and CASONS, to the Beaufort County, NC area and "reportedly" these MOORES of Princess Anne County, VA supposedly descend from a son of Gov. James MOORE of Charleston, SC. The best possible collateral match for this Burke County, GA DANIEL family appears to be Pitt, Beaufort and Northampton County, NC area. I also know that my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL, cut deeds in the 1850's for Benajah A. MOYE, a son of Capt. George MOYE, III and Sarah BRADBURY of Pitt County, NC and later, Gilberts District, Washington County, GA. I also know this Benajah (probably Benjamin) A. MOYE (ABT 1800-1880) married Vienna Augusta MARSHALL (ABT 1829-AFT 1850) on 21 Nov 1847 in Jefferson County, GA. She was a d/o Lewis Francis MARSHALL and Celia Ann TARVER of Jefferson County, GA. Lewis Francis MARSHALL was the son of a Joseph MARSHALL, Sr. (ABT 1765-BEF 1830) and an Ann (ABT 1770-1845), possibly SMITH, of Jefferson County, GA. I also know my GGU, James L. DANIEL (1814-1857) was the executor for the estate of this Ann MARSHALL in 1845 in Jefferson County, GA. I also know that Joseph MARSHALL, Sr. was living right next to Rev. Jordan SMITH and his wife, Mary GAINER, in Jefferson County, GA in 1820. I also believe that Ann MARSHALL was Rev. SMITH's sister but I may be wrong in this assumption but, regardless, I feel they were related. I also believe this Rev. SMITH was related to the Noah SMITH, Sr, and Jr. whose SMITH family also seems to follow this DANIEL bunch from Burke to Jefferson County, GA. One of my DANIEL GGA's also married a TARVER, so this bunch seems to be pretty closely connected. One of my grand aunts, Julia R. DANIEL (b. 1842/1843) also married a Luther C. SMITH in Jefferson County, GA in 1859. She, her husband, my GGF and the family of Noah and Wylanty (WAY) SMITH, Jr. lived side by side in Jefferson County, GA in 1860. This tells me, family. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I am missing just one bit of critical information which would tie this whole family together. It will not be found in POWG because we already know quite a few of the DANIEL assignments from this well respected work are wrong. I assume these errors from this compiled work also extend to other families, as well. John R. Well, if all you folks studying these Moores come across the origins of Jordan (Jurdan) Moore, born abt 1798 in North Carolina, in Upson County, GA by 1830, and in Coffee County, AL by 1860 (and probably closer to 1850), give me a shout.
