    3. I am forwarding this post from another board, in hopes that some of you may recognize any of these names as possible collateral to the Daniel family. Sherlene "I am stuck with this line and hope someone can help me straighten this mess out. I have an ancestor Parthenia/Parthinia deRumayor who may have two sets of parents with big differences in dates of birth, etc. I am at a loss as to which the correct parents might be. What is bad, it looks like both Parthenia's married a James Coursey and both had a son named Valentine. One group of researchers and this is what has been passed down in my family, have the line as follows: Thomas Cherry, Sr. m. Rachel Emlem Children: Mary, Thomas P. Jr., Honour, Rachel, William, Sr., Ralph, Sr., Aaron, Sr., Moses, John Joaquin Fernandez deRumayor m. Honour Cherry Child: Parthenia (there are several different spellings of her name) James V. Coursey m. Parthenia deRumayor Child: Valentine Austin Coursey, Sr. Valentine Austin Coursey, Sr. m. 1 Bessie Sharp m.2 Nancy Secrease Children of Valentine & Nancy: George Washington, Eliza Amanda, Sarah Partheinia Lane, Charlotte Helen, Wilson Travis, Zilpha Caroline, Benjamin Franklin, Elizabeth Cynthia, James Absolum, Valentine Austin, Jr., Hiram Alexander, Christopher Columbus, John R. The other group shows the line as follows: Joseph Mott m. Zelphia Wiggins Children: Parthena, Joseph George, Pamela, Benjamin, Caroline, Helen, Amanda, Oliver Parthena Mott m. James Valtinos Coursey Child: Valentine A. Coursey Valentine Coursey m. Nancy Secrest Children: George Washington, Eliza Amanda, Sarah Partheinia Jane, Charlotte Helen, William Travis, Zelpha Caroline, Benjamin Michael Franklin, Elizabeth Cynthia, James Absalom, Valentine Austin, Hiram Alexander, Christopher Columbus, John If any one can help me correct and document this line, I would really appreciate any and all assistance. I also need information on the parents of James V. Coursey and Joaquin Fernandez deRumayor. I have nothing as to who their parents were. There is also controversy over how, when, and where Joaquin Fernandez deRumayor arrived in America. Some show he came from Ireland after he married Honour, others show he was in Texas with Padilla (there are a lot of records to document this), others show him coming from Spain, but nothing that shows where he married Honour and no actual documentation on what port he came to in America, etc. I run into the same thing with Honour Cherry. Some show her being born in Antrim, Ireland others in Virginia. I would just like to find something that will document and prove these births, marriages, etc. They did live in or were in the following counties in Texas, Liberty, Polk, Nacogdoches, Llano, and some of the surrounding counties. Thank you, Barbara"

    3. Sherlene, You need to list a few dates and location on this query, if you have it. I have one COURSEY, a William, of Botetourt County, VA. I have lots of CHERRYS but they were of Norfolk, VA and later migrated into Beaufort and Pitt County, NC and they do tie to a DANIEL family where some of the given names you list were prominent. The only COURSEY I carry is one that married Sarah Elizabeth FLANDERS, d/o William FLANDERS (1748-BEF 1793) and Martha CHESTNUTT of Northampton County, NC. The "De" part of the other name was usually dropped quite early in most families, and I do not know what name it became, later. My De RENAULD name later became RENEAU and the Yankee part of this line shortened it even more to RENO. Your COURSEYS may well have been COURSON, too. John R.
