    3. Hi John & Anne (I hope you'll read this too) The only peeps that you've heard from me recently have been regarding the families tied to a book "Early Settlers of Alabama" - of those being the descendants of: Christopher CLARK & Mildred TERRELL Dionysious OLIVER and Mary Anne WINFREY Zimri TAIT and Martha MAYFIELD (and their daughter Barbara Taits marriage to William Oliver son of Dionysious Oliver & William Oliver's subsequent marriage to a Creek Indian named Mary Polly Kean, granddaughter of "Big Warrior" aka Joseph Cornell, Chief of the Wind Clan - Creek Nation) Zimri TAIT's brother William TAIT married Elizabeth HUDSON dau of Charles HUDSON & Susannah PATRICK Zimri TAIT's grandson - Charles TAIT (brother to Barbara Tait wife of William Oliver), statesman of GA who married Nancy Ann LUCAS & Sarah WILLIAMSON. Charles died in Wilcox Co., AL. Barbara TAIT & William OLIVER's daughter Matilda Oliver married David HUDSON son of David HUDSON & Mary COBB BOOKER (Cobb, Booker, & BOON families come into play about here and I haven't gotten this part sorted out as yet - but, please note that the families are part of this herd.) And, Barbara Tait's sister, Lousia TAIT married John BANKS. So, Anne, when you came up with some of the names you posted yesterday - including BOOKER as a possible name of one of the son the connection became more likely. Now you already know that 2 of Christopher CLARK & Mildred TERRELL's kids married 2 of Dionysius OLIVER's kids. Ooops! Don't forget the White's - Shelton WHITE & Mildred CLARK (another one of Christophers kids). I haven't touched on the WATKINS or the THOMPSON'S, LEWISES, MERIWETHER's, who all have intermarriages with the above mentioned families. Many of these families had men who fought with William Oliver and Sam Dale & just as William Oliver did - married Native American women who had wealth and land that had been granted to them in a very fertile part of the state, mostly around Pike and Fayette Co., AL. Yes, Washington County, AL at the turn of the 19th century was of tremendous size. Many people who look for folks in Washington Co, MS should really be looking in Washington Co., AL - likewise with Monroe Co - but, it was called "Mississippi Territory" and that's what steers folks wrong. So, about MS - it appears from my families that about 1815 they headed out of GA to MS - counties like DeSoto & Simpson & Copiah. My GRAVES line came with these folks - they were collaterals, but not nearly the BIG HITTERS the other families where. This is the line of John W. GRAVES and Sarah WARREN, who folks think are from the James GRAVES and Mary COPELAND line who descend from Capt. Thomas GRAVES. Martha M. GRAVES was my g+grandmother married James DANIEL, Jr. If nothing else, I'm finding many of my other direct lines & possibly to connection to my Daniel Line. And, these folks were some very flamboyant and colorful people, who had alot of wealth and were political leaders of whatever place they might settle. Anne - I'd made some notes today on your Daniel line - but, I can't find them at the momemt. I've have to post them later. Take Care - Ruth in Portland, OR ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R. 1. Re: [DANIEL-L] Kelso-Daniel of Greene County, GA
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Ruth, I have some interesting connections. A George WYCHE married Agatha CLARK b. ABT 1770. She was the d/o Christopher CLARK, Sr. (1737-1803) and Millicent TERRELL (1741-1800), as you noted. I have a pretty good layout of Chris and Millicent's family if you want it. Lt. Col. George WYCHE II (ABT 1733-1809) of Brunswick County, VA, later Richmond County, GA married a Patience CLARK, d/o George CLARK (d. 1775) and Prudence of Brunswick County, VA. I do not show a George in this line, but you know there has to be one and he was born in the right time frame to marry Agatha. See note I have listed in the children of Chris and Millicent. As for Dionysious OLIVER. Three OLIVER boys married three of Chris and Millicent's kids. Lucy CLARK born ABT 1786 married a Simeon OLIVER. I have a listing of their kids and a Dionysious is not listed as one of them. However, her sisters, Susan CLARK born 1783 in Albemarle County, VA married a McCarthy OLIVER and Lucinda OLIVER born 1785 married a James OLIVER. I have no other information on either of these latter two boys but one of them must be the father of your Dionysius OLIVER. I also know of your interest in this family -- the KEYS, right? They, like the OLIVERS are all over this CLARK family. I still think there may be a link in this bunch to the CRAWFORDS of Morgan County, GA because the Hon. William H. CRAWFORD of Morgan County, GA named his youngest son, William Bibb CRAWFORD. I need to take a closer look at this CRAWFORD family. I do know that a Thomas CRAWFORD born 1770 in NC married Martha COLEMAN, d/o Daniel COLEMAN Sr. and Unity CARROLL of Warren County, NC. Martha was the sister of Eden COLEMAN who married Nancy Ann DANIEL, supposedly a d/o Thomas DANIEL and Sarah BURNEY or RANDLE of Greene County, GA. Martha, like Eden, moved to Greene County, GA. Do not forget that Nancy Ann DANIEL was a sister of Charles DANIEL who married Elizabeth COFFEE and Eden, his uncle, by marriage. The same goes for the CRAWFORDS. I also think George CLARKE (who must have been born about 1690) who was the father of Patience CLARK who married George WYCHE II has to be related in some way to Christopher CLARK who married Millicent TERRELL. However, I have Chris's father as Micajah CLARK (1718-1808) of Campbell County, VA and his grandfather as Christopher CLARK born 1690 in England. He was married to Penelope (BOLLING) JOHNSON who was the granddaughter of the Earl of Shaftsbury. Maybe someone else will see something here while I see what I can find on the links between the HARRIS, CRAWFORD, COLEMAN and DANIEL families of Greene and Morgan County, GA and get a little better understanding of how they relate to the WYCHE and CLARK families. Most of you know this by now, but I will restate it -- I am not related to this CLARK family. <grin> One further comment. A son of George CLARK and Prudence was a Randall CLARK born ABT 1735 and from what I am seeing her, it kind of all smells to be part of the same overall group of families. Your comments. Chris and Millicent's kids: <<< Children i. Micajah CLARK b: 25 FEB 1758 married a Penelope GATEWOOD ii. Christopher CLARK b: 6 JAN 1761 married Rebecca DAVIS iii. 3. John: How nice of you to bring up the Key connection to these families. We've kicked these Keys around alot trying to come to terms with Elizabeth Key and Josiah Daniel. Yes, the Keys were part of these herd from way back in VA. We know that there are Daniel connections there. And, that brings up Anne's posting again. We know that James Key and Mary Daniel lived in KY. She has a Nancy C. Key who was the second wife to Daniel Morris, son of Thomas and Mary Morris. Anne: Do you know the parents for Nancy? And, I'd forgot to mention the Colemans - at least two married Graves in my line. And, Lamar, and so many others. You'd talked about the name Maxwell - Dionysius Oliver's 2nd wife was Jane Jackson (supposedly related to Andrew Jackson) - and had a son named Jackson Oliver, who married a Polly Maxwell. And, I think that I've ran into a couple of other ones. From what I've been able to read about Wm. H. Crawford - he and Charles Tait were political buddies in GA and worked together to get Alabama State Government established, along with James Dellet, who was James Daniel, Sr.'s next door neighbor in Monroe Co., AL (or late least the next name on 3 census). Although, the book I'm using doesn't list Mr. Crawford, I know that there was at least a political connection. Seems to me that a while back I'd found a Bio for Crawford in the GA archieves, I believe, but it was on-line. - Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R. 3. I don't remember the context, but there was a mention of the Wilkes County/Greene County, GA folk being from Prince Edward, VA. Those who are interested may already have this, but I came across it and decided to post it, just in case: Wilkes County GA, Deed Book HH, page 199; WLLIAMS, SILAS and wife Lucy of Wilkes Co., to Wm. Daniel of Prince Edward Co. Va., 150 acres on both sides of the south fork of Little river. Jan. 4, 1791. Douglas Watson, Thos. Baldwin, Thos. Nelms, Jr. test. Jack Butler

    3. Jack, That is the Kelso-Daniel bunch from PE, later Greene County, GA and I am not to sure they were not in Wilkes, Oglethorpe or Hancock at some point before Greene County, GA. LT. Douglas WATSON RS-VA (1741-1797) married Margaret PARKS (1746-1803), d/o James PARKS and Mary Littlejohn FULTON of PE County, VA. All of them came to Greene/Oglethorpe County, GA area, probably together. The PARKS also end up in Morgan running Park's Mill in Buckhead, Morgan County, GA, as I remember. As I remember, they were pretty close to the McCOY family of that area. To show you how close these folks all were. James Daniel PARKS (1756-1823) of Wilkes, son of James and Mary Fulton PARKS, married both a Mary SANKEY and Phoebe HOGUE. Phoebe was the sister of Mary Stewart L. HOGUE who married Edward Lloyd THOMAS of Oxford, Newton County, GA. The SANKEYS are all over the CUNNINGHAMS and DANIELS of Greene County, GA. Mary SANKEY was the d/o of Rev. Richard SANKEY of PE County, VA and Phoebe was the d/o a Jacob HOGUE and an Effie of VA, later, GA. Rev. Richard SANKEY was born ABT 1710 Ireland and died PE County, VA. He married a Sarah THOMASON b. ABT 1720, died PE County, VA. An Ann THOMASON born 1718 married James CUNNINGHAM (1720-1780) of PE County, VA and their daughters, Sarah, Elizabeth and Hannah CUNNINGHAM married three of the son of James DANIEL and Jean KELSO and the SANKEYS then tie back into this same DANIEL family in Greene County, GA in the next generation. This whole bunch was close and this group also included the COFFEES of PE County, VA, later Greene County, GA. I just do not know how the TERRELLS, WINGFIELDS and BURNEYS or BURNLEYS play into this scenario but I believe they do in some way. We already know the PORTERS of Greene County, GA tie directly into the Douglas WATSON family and the PORTERS are also out of PE County, VA, as is Capt. William GREENE RS-NC (1764-1819) of Greene County, GA that was married to a HUNTER out of Warren County, NC but before that I do not know where his family was from but somewhere in VA. The McCOY family of that area is relatively close to my bunch because I have three McCOYS from that area in my PAF - one married a CALLAWAY, one married a FITZPATRICK and one married am ALSTON and all of these families are related to my bunch in one way or another.
