John, I have no doubt the COFFEES played in the same financial arena as the CUNNINGHAMS. Peter COFFEY (sic) is listed on the 1781 Wake County Tax Listing in Captain Woodson DANIEL'S district in the top five property value wise. I point out that the COFFEES were supposedly Baptists also (Powelton Baptist in Hancock Cty. per COFFEE researchers). Mike
Mike, Most information says Peter COFFEE, Jr. was born PE County, VA and died in Hancock County, GA. Ever person we know from PE ended up, not in Wake, but in Granville at one time or another and Peter is no different. Also, most Wake County, NC families came from Southside and not Middlesex or PE, as the general rule goes. Peter's attachment to PE, Granville and to the DANIELS makes me think the Kelso-Daniels may have been from the Middlesex bunch. It may take DNA to straighten out this line. <<< Marriage of Peter COFFY to Sarah Smith. Bond dated 14 Nov 1773. Signed by Peter COFFY and Jos. Alston. [History and Genealogies of Old Granville County, North Carolina, 1746-1800] >>> I do not carry any information on this Joseph ALSTON but I do carry a lot of ALSTON family information but he has to be out of the Solomon ALSTON,Sr. and Sarah Ann Nancy HINTON family of Chowan County, NC, maybe out of the James ALSTON, Jr. and Grizille YANCEY bunch from Granville. I will take a look at him when I can. Right time frame, anyway..... John R.
