    3. Ruth, where did the Olivers come from? I have Olivers from Baldwin County, GA who moved to Barbour County, AL. I did note that a James Sheppard was a JP on one of Dionysius Oliver's land deeds - enough to make one go hmmmmmm. Jane Oliver married William Henry Sheppard in 1814 in Baldwin County, GA. She and William H. Sheppard did not move to AL until the 1840s, but they settled near some Olivers that had already been there for many years. 3. Jack: I've ran across a couple of Sheppard's in these families. Let me do a little more checking and see if I can find out anything about them. Looks like I'll be snowed in for a couple of days here. Portland, OR doesn't get much snow, as we are in a valley. But, our forcasters say we will get 6" tonight - so, there will be no work for me tomorrow. Portland comes to a stop when the snow comes. Kinda like folks from San Diego and rain. That was probably Dionysius Oliver, Jr. b. 1768 or one of the others ones. I'll keep your e-mail close at hand and see what I can find. - Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack V Butler" <JackVButler@comcast.net> To: <DANIEL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 8:16 PM Subject: Re: [DANIEL-L] Kelso-Daniel of Greene County, GA > Ruth, where did the Olivers come from? 3. Speaking of SHEPPARDS, they were one of the First Families of Madison, Morgan County, GA. I do not carry a lot on them but they were closely collateral with the BALDWINS. The one BALDWIN connection I carry data for in my PAF is Margaret BALDWIN who married Judge William DANIEL, Sr. (1770-1839) of Lynchburg, Cumberland County, VA. This BALDWIN family was from Elizabethtown, Essex County, NJ and knowing all of the NJ and MD connections that come into GA in this time frame, I would not bet against this being a part of this group. The first SHEPPARD I pick up is Carter SHEPPARD (1894-1929) who married Adeline DOUGLAS of Madison, GA. She was the d/o Albert Eugene DOUGLAS, Sr. (1870-1919) and Annie Miller FITZPATRICK (1869-1939) of Madison, Morgan County, GA. Adeline was the sister of Henry Harris FITZPATRICK (1863-1934) of Madison who married my aunt. Ida Reneau RICHTER. The QUILLIANS, SHEPPARDS, CARTERS and BALDWINS of Morgan County, GA were all close.
