    1. Re: [DANIEL-L] Pitt County NC DANIELS
    2. Jack V Butler
    3. John, Harmon Mayo was the son of Samuel Mayo, born 1761 in Perquimans County, NC. And to feed your favorite speculations a little, Samuel was a great grandson of Edward Mayo who came to North Carolina via South Carolina and Barbados before that. Harmon Mayo was brother to my ancestor Brittain Mayo. Their father, Samuel Mayo, served in Capt. John Hodge's Co. of the Pitt Volunteers, Seawell's Regt., NC Militia, commanded by Col. Benj. Seawell of the North Carolina Regiment of Militia. His brother John Mayo - possibly the John Mayo Mike mentions - also served in the RW from Pitt County. I looked at the Grays a little in VA - they married into the JERKINS/JUDKINS folk that I was chasing at the time - but I have not done much with them in NC. Some of them moved with the Jerkins to NE North Carolina - particularly to Beaufort County, NC. Likewise, the Worley's married into the JERKINS/JUDKINS in NC. But the only Daniel connection that I have found between my JERKINS and any DANIEL line is a couple of JERKINS deeds witnessed by some Daniel men in Halifax Co, NC. Jack ___ appears on Company Pay Roll of the organization named above, dated (not dated) Commencement of pay Aug. 10, 1780 ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R.
