Vickie, I have several George DANIELS of that time frame. Since we have been bouncing around the DANIELLS, I will list that George, first. (1) Stephen Bedon DANIELL, the father of John who married Hannah GRANGE, had a brother, George DANIELL (1744-BEF 1784) who supposedly married Elizabeth HOWE. I have it that he died in Bladen County, NC but I learned a long time ago, never to trust anything this DANIELL family says about anything, unless the evidence is over, overwhelming. However, the Masters HANKINS on this probate information for George seems to indicate this may have been him since his niece, Amelia DANIEL, d/o Stephen Bedon DANIEL, married Masters HANKINS Regardless, this DANIELL family is the most cobbled up family we have in the DANIELL family and they have not one bit of DNA evidence to back up any of their claims. George's notes are listed below. However, I cannot see this George DANIELL living in Brunswick County, NC in 1770, based on the court record below, and living in Pittsylvania County, VA in 1767. Contrary to the information you have on John and Hannah Grange DANIEL, I have never seen any link with this bunch to VA. (2) George DANIEL born 1731 in Middlesex County, VA.He was the son of Henry DANIEL and Mary JOHNSON of Middlesex County, VA. He married a Frances DANIEL, d/o William DANIEL, Sr. and Anne WATTS of Middlesex County, VA and I have no other information on him or her. (3) George DANIEL born 1727, died 1758 in Middlesex but he would have been dead by 1767 so he would not have been on this Pittsylvania County, VA tax list. However, he did have a son, named Nelson, and NELSON is one name I have seen in the Pittsylvania County, VA area. These are the only George's I carry that meet this time frame. I am sure there were possibly other DANIELS named George of this time frame but I just do not carry them. I think what may be a greater possibility is that you bunch may have been tied to one of those McDANIELS floating around Pittsylvania County, VA and Augusta County, VA is loaded with McDANIELS and McDONALDS and folks moved west and not north in that time frame. Also, if your bunch moved to the Ohio Territory area since this was a big repository for former Quakers, who after 1800 fled the south in droves due to the slavery question. I do not think there is any evidence this DANIELL bunch in Charleston were Quakers. They seem to have been real big in northern VA and PA, as well as back in Henrico, although there were some in SC and even GA at one point but "they got out of Dodge" rather quickly after 1800. <<<< Notes for George DANIELL: Chatham County, NC DEED BOOK B - 1775-1783 pg. 280, May 10, 1784 STEPHEN DANIELL, Admin., MARY DANNIELL Adminstx. of the Estate of GEORGE DANIEL, dec'd both in the County of Bladen Co., NC to WILLIAM DANIELL of Chatham Co., NC, for $300, 320 acres on Indian Creek and the waters of Deep River, joining WILLIAM BARBER.
