    3. Thought you would like to know that Joseph LANE, Jr. and Patience McKINNIE of Bertie, later Edgecombe County, NC were not born in the 1710-1715 time frame most list for them -- they were born 10 or more years before that. I think the following deed pretty much confirms that Joseph and Patience were married probably by ABT 1723 and not the 1730 dates most list for them and we know they were married by 1728. I also think the following 1728 POA for Patience LANE is very important, too, since it was given to Matthew RAIFORD, as well as the deeds between McKINNIE and the RAIFORDS which are marked with a * in this message........ Other Bertie deeds indicate that Joseph LANE, Sr. and Julian JARRELL were alive at least until 29 Jul 1727 and that Col. Barnabus McKINNIE was alive until, at least, until 28 Jan. 1739. This is just another few example of how some of this stuff has been cobbled up from 1723-1739. He was also married to a Mary M. Prominent names listed in these deeds are BROWN, BOYLE, GRAY, PACE, RAIFORD, LEDBETTER, MURPHEY, RUSHIN, JOYNER, JACKSON, CUMMINGS, LANE, LANG, FROST, BALDWIN, JONES, LOWE, MILIKAN, CHAVERS, GREEN, HOLLY, WHEELER, BRASWELL, MASON, POPE, SIMS, SIMONS, MCLEMORE, BOSEMAN, CAIN, BEAN, NICHOLS, DICKUM (DIXON?), DUKES, EARP, PEETE, HOWELL and probably a few I missed. If you want a list of all of the Barnabus McKINNIE deeds, let me know, I have them. <<< Bertie County, NC 14 May 1723, A, 59, 39 Barnabe Mackinne, Jr. to Joseph Lane, Jr. 250 acres (part of 530 acres land patent to William Murphrey on 5 April 1720), then sold to Barnabe Mackinne.
