Several Daniell and Daniel's were mentioned in a book by John Bennett Boddie, named ' a history of the county of Isle of Wight, Virginia, during the seventeenth century.' According to a letter written in 1621 by Thomas Smith, a George Harrison received land from Thomas Bennett and a Mr. Danel and Mr. Pope went to his farm until the crop came in. From what I could glean Thomas Smith was the captain of a ship they came on from England. Isle Of Wight Families- In 1636 Walter Daniell patented 100 acres in 'Martin's Hundred' joining westerly upon the land of Thomas Smith and south upon Kethes Creek" 50 acres of same being for transportation of Thomas Jennings (probably Smith's brother-in-law) The Daniel's seemed to have come from the Blackwater River region of Essex England and were also related to the Wisemans. John Daniel of Messing Hall,Essex married Ursula, daughter of William Wiseman of Great Badow. Does anyone have anything down from this John Daniel? Michelle M. Hi, I know a lot have thought I had been asleep at the switch for the past several months but not so, I have been doing quite a bit of research. There was a Walter DANIEL and Walter LANE in Craven County, NC later. I do not know anything more about them but I would bet they are related to this bunch. John R.
