Payne & others - In looking at your website, I found a statement regarding the American Lineage of the Tyrell Co. DANIEL Family. You mention that "Ann JONES DANIEL of England, husband DANIEL unknown? (1600/1610 - 1678). Ann's brother, Roger JONES and his sons figure in this family's story in America. 2. Thomas DANIEL the First 1631 - 1709 (Isle of Wight, Virginia). 3. Owen DANIEL (abt 1663 - 1700) 4. Thomas DANIEL of Tyrrell Co., NC (1679 - 1749). Note: The sons Roger JONES, Frederick and Thomas, figure in the affairs of Owen DANIEL." I am quite interested in the family of Ann JONES and her brother Roger JONES, as I have a Roger JONES as my 11G grandfather and another as my 9G grandfather. I have not tied them directly into my DANIEL family as of yet, but they do connect to my WITHERSPOON family, which eventually connects to my DANIEL line. Here is how my line from Roger JONES down through the WITHERSPOONs to my DANIEL connection: Roger JONES married Hannah. Thomas JONES, b. abt 1620, marries Ellen HOSKINS. Roger JONES, b. 1642, married Dorothy (WALKER?). Frederick JONES, b. 1670, married Sarah Jane HARDING. Frederick JONES, b. 1712, married Mary VAIL. Harding JONES, b. 1736, married Mary WHITING. Mary Whiting JONES, b. 1757, married 1) Abner NASH, 2) David WITHERSPOON. Rev. John Knox WITHERSPOON, b. 1790, married Susan Davis KOLLOCK. John Knox WITHERSPOON, Jr., b. 1816, married Elizabeth McFarland MCEWEN. Susannah Tweed "Shannie" WITHERSPOON, b. 1849 married Rev. Eugene DANIEL. Rev. Eugene DANIEL was the son of Rev. Isham John DANIEL and Mary Ann RAINEY. He was born 25 Mar 1849 in Intercourse, Sumter Co., AL. Do you have any further information on the parents of Roger and Ann JONES? Where did you find that Roger was Ann's brother? What other evidence have you found of this JONES family tying into the DANIEL family of Tyrell Co.? Do any of these other collateral families set off any bells or whistles in connection to any of the DANIEL families in Tyrell Co.? Regards, Linda Scott
