One of the things that caught my attention about the name, Overton, TN is the coincidence of the name, Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, VA. I have always wondered if this was a shortening of the name from Overwharton to Overton. One of the things I have noticed about a lot of these families is they liked the names of the counties they were originally born or lived in at some point. This is because you will often see a person, for an example, born in Burke County, NC later migrating to Burke County, GA or a person born in Jefferson County, TN later marrying a person from Jefferson County, GA. A coincidence or a pattern? That, I don't know. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis T.
