    3. Robert, Two names caught my attention on this list, besides what I listed in my private message to you. They are REESE and HAYNES. My grandparents, Alice DANIEL (1854-1924) and John RICHTER (1848-1907) lived in Reese Community, Morgan County, GA. This community, which borders on Brownwood Community to the north and Shady Dale, Jasper County, GA to the south, was named for a REESE boy who was clerk of the court in Morgan County, GA. There are more than a few connections of the REESE name to several family deeds in Morgan County, GA. The HAYNES connection also caught my eye because William Montgomery HAYNES (1868-1902) of Hall County, GA married Lillian May McCLELLAN (1862-1911) of Marietta, Cobb County, GA in 1882. They had two children that I know of, a Montgomery HAYNES and a Marietta HAYNES. I do not know anything about the girl but Montgomery HAYNES was of Tampa, FL in 1925. I do not know if the "Montgomery" HAYNES was a junior or not. I do not know very much about the HAYNES but I know a lot about the McCLELLANS. Lillian's grandmother, Margaret POTTER (1810-1863) married Joseph John "Jesse" TATUM ABT 1836 in St. Croix, I believe, since both of their families were from St. Croix, Dutch West Indies. Margaret and Jesse migrated to Marietta, GA by 1850 and Jesse was a prominent merchant and slave trader in Marietta before the CW. Margaret's older sister, Anne Eliza POTTER (1808-1863), married Charles W. RICHTER, Sr. (1807-1884) in about the same time frame and the RICHTERS migrated to Madison, Morgan County, GA. You also know from my private note that Anne and Charles's boys went to school in Marietta and Marietta and Madison are only about 75 miles apart, as the crow flies. Anyway, Harriett Ann TATUM (1838-1925), daughter of Jesse and Margaret, married Leander Calvin McCLELLAN (1826-1883) in 1856 in Marietta, GA by a Dr. George PEETRE. They had four children, three girls and a boy who died in infancy. Their oldest daughter, Alice Josephine McCLELLAN (1858-1907) married, first, Alonzo James WHITE, Jr. Esq. (1845-1877) in 1876 in Marietta. He was out of the Blake Leah WHITE family of Charleston, SC. Alice and Alonzo had one daughter, Alonsita WHITE born 1877, after her father's death. Alonsita WHITE married a Harold WALKER of NYC in 1904. They had three daughters, Evelyn (married Lawrence Wood ROBERT), Aldace (married a DAVIES) and another daughter who married a Fielding ROBINSON, as the story goes. In 1892 after 15 years of widowhood, Alice married second, Theodore Weld BIRNEY, Esq. (1854-1897). The BIRNEYS were of Forest Glen, MD. They had two daughters -- Catherine BIRNEY born 1893 married a Baron Albrect von SCHOEN and Lillian born 1895 married an Edward R. FINKENSTAEDT of Washington, DC, according to my information. Lillian McCLELLAN was Alice's younger sister. They also had another sister, Grace Lee McCLELLAN (1864-1832) who married a James Emmett SMITH (1859-1925). I know he died in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, GA and she died in Atlanta but I do not know very many of the specific details about James and Grace's family only that they had three children (two girls and a boy) all born around 1900 -- Mary Virginia SMITH, McClellan SMITH and Ruth Birney SMITH (married Paul BEAUCHAMP of Pike County, GA in 1921). I think the SMITHS were of Nelson County, VA and James was a grandson of William SMITH (1755-1836) and Elizabeth MASSIE of Nelson County, VA. SMITH was formerly of Albemarle County, VA. These McCLELLAN kids were my 2nd cousins, once removed (2C-1R) and their mother (Harriett TATUM) my 1C 2R and her mother, my great grand aunt. John R.
