Kevin, The names that caught my attention was those COLLINS names on that 1786 Orange County, VA list, one of which was a John COLLINS. A John COLLINS was supposedly the father of Nancy Ann COLLINS who married Rev. Nicholas MURPHEY (1782-1851) of Augusta and their two girls supposedly married two of my DANIEL boys from Burke County, Ga. I assume you noticed how far Robert DANIEL was from William DANIEL on this list. My brother and I do not always get along but we usually signed things in tandem - me, first, him, second. <grin> . The oldest always has certain prerogatives, right? <grin> However, if you look at it, overall, their names were almost at the same height and about even, left to right, with each other. They may have signed it in row order and not column order even though it is broken up into two distinct columns. The names that caught my attention around Robert were John WILLIAMS, Thomas COOK, Thomas LANDRUM, Joseph BELL, Rob't DANIEL, Sugar (?) MALONEY and Thomas SMITH. One other name I saw on this list was that of a William TERRELL. If that was the William TERRELL (1731-1812) that married Frances WINGFIELD then there are real possibilities, here. Also notice the Stephen THWEATT who signed the document right above William DANIEL and what appears to be Joseph BUCKNER down one line or so from William DANIEL. I saved a copy of the high resolution image if anybody wants to look at it. It is named OrangeVA1786-3.jpg. Just ask me for a copy. They are big files. (350K or more). John R.
