Good Morning, Some recent information has come to light from a COLEMAN researcher. This seems to indicate the Spilsbe-Daniel connection could well be from a DANIEL family out of Spotsylvania County, VA. This may also be the same DANIEL family we pick up, later, in Orange County, VA who some have associated with the family of Reuben DANIEL of that location. I do not know whether this is the correct assignment for these folks, though. I think the William DANIEL we find in Orange County, VA was the William DANIEL listed in the 1757 will of Spilsbe COLEMAN of Spotsylvania County, VA as his brother-in-law. I also think the Robert DANIEL we find with William DANIEL in Orange County, VA in 1786 was his son. That may also mean the Thomas DANIEL (ABT 1740-1813) who migrated to Greene County, GA was also a son of this William DANIEL because we know the family of Thomas DANIEL of Greene County, GA was tied to some COLEMANS and I think they are part of the same COLEMAN bunch from Spotsylvania County, VA. I would also assume Robert DANIEL was born in about the same time frame as Thomas DANIEL -- ABT the 1740/1750 time frame. What we know from this is a DANIEL girl married Spilsbe COLEMAN who died in 1757 and her brother was a William DANIEL who I think was the same William DANIEL we find in 1786 in Orange County, VA. The main reason I think these two Williams are the same is because we find TALLIFERROS on the Will of Spilsbe COLEMAN and on the 1786 Petition with William and Robert DANIEL of Orange County, VA. I do not know if this William DANIEL was related to Vivion and James DANIEL of Orange County, VA but William could have been a brother and these families merged in Orange County by 1786 because we do see some indication there "were around" many of the same families from the sparse deeds I have from Orange County, VA John R.
