Hi, Another comment on St. Croix, Dutch West Indies. There were lots of Norwegians living in St. Croix which was probably the source of the DANIELSONS listed in these files. My 2nd GGM was a Maria HOLLWECK born Bergan, Norway and she married Carl Wilhelm RICHTER, Sr. sometime prior to 1807. We know Carl left Reichenbach, Liegnitz, Schlesien, Prussia in 1799 but do not know his movements before he landed in St. Croix sometime ABT May 1807 when Carl, Jr. was born in St. Croix. We also have information his mother later married a kinsman, also named HOLLWECK, after Carl, Sr. died in 1807. We also know that Little Carl, who later changed his name to Charles William RICHTER, was the only child of Carl, Sr. because we have an 1833 letter in which Carl, Jr. is described by his uncle, who still lived in Reichenbach, Liegnitz, Schlesien, Prussia, as the only heir of Carl Jr.'s uncle, August RICHTER (1792-1817), an officer in the Prussian Army, who had died as a result of injuries he recieved at Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
