    3. RE- the IOW DANIEL family. For the first time, today, I saw something that really made a lot of sense to me. The researchers of the family of Owen O'DANIEL I (ABT 1660-AFT 1730) of Bertie County, NC state he was a son of Thomas O"DANIEL and Anna JONES and Owen had children named, Thomas ( born 1686 who married Elizabeth LANIER), Mary and John O'DANIEL. There was no documentation for this assignment but I do not know anything, offhand, that disagrees with this assignment and we know that 1686 Thomas was a son of Owen who in turn was a son of a Thomas. There may be some truth to this and what we may be seeing is exactly what we later saw with the O'DANIEL family of Fairfax County, VA -- they dropped the "Old English O'" at different stages and spelled their DANIEL name in different ways, still keeping their basic overall group of collateral families intact.
