Good Morning, I have known for a long time the Jeptha Vining HARRIS family of Morgan County, GA was close to my bunch in Madison, Morgan County, GA but did not know the interconnections. Now, I do, at least one of them. Jeptha Vining HARRIS (1782-1856) was the son of Walton HARRIS and Rebecca Louise LANIER of Greene County, GA. He married Sarah HUNT of Morgan County, GA, the d/o Richardson HUNT and Nancy Martin CARTER. His brother was Nathan HARRIS, Sr. who married Mrs. Elizabeth STERNS. Their daughter, Mary "Polly" HARRIS nee JARVIS who married, second, Valentine CROOK of Oglethorpe County, GA. She had previously married Jesse JARVIS and she was the mother of a James JARVIS, per her 1856 will, which was probated in Oglethorpe County, GA. Valentine CROOK was the brother of Lewis CROOK who migrated to Raleigh, MS and his family ties into my RICHTER family of Morgan County, GA through the WILLIAMS family of Meridian, Lauderdale County, MS. I also think this "Valentine" name may be part of the Valentine WHITE family which I think is also the ancestors of the Benjamin V. WHITE family of Meridian, MS, which is also tied to my bunch, there. NOTE: the sister of Walton HARRIS (1738-1809), Martha "Patsy" HARRIS (1742-BEF 1781), married Daniel COLEMAN, Jr. (ABT 1741-1785) the son of Daniel COLEMAN, Sr. and Unity CARROLL of Warren County, NC. His brother, Eden COLEMAN (ABT 1764-1817) married Nancy Ann DANIEL of Greene County, GA who some say was a d/o Thomas DANIEL and Sarah BURNEY or a Sarah RANDLE.. This whole bunch ends up in Greene and Oglethorpe County, GA and later in Morgan and elsewhere. Walton and Martha "Patsy" HARRIS were the children of Capt. Nathan HARRIS and Catherine WALTON of Brunswick County, VA, later Greenville County, VA. Catherine was the d/o Gent. George WALTON and Elizabeth ROWE of St. Andrews Parish, Brunswick Co., VA and sister of the Hon. Isaac Rowe WALTON, Esq. Another family tied to this bunch and my RICHTER bunch are the WYCHE and WINDSOR families that are collateral with this bunch. General Jeptha Vining HARRIS is buried just a few steps from my RICHTER great-grandparents in Madison, Morgan County, GA. Any thoughts you have on this are appreciated...... Her 1856 Oglethorpe County, GA will: <<< Estate File of Mary Crook 1857-1866 as filmed by the LDS on microfilm #1893170. These loose pages are held at the State Archives at Atlanta, Georgia.
