Mike, I agree, something just does not smell right about this bunch as they are currently laid out. I do not know if they were a part of the same IOW bunch or not. Let's take T&E's kids and the order of their birth. The oldest is Robert, named for her father, Robert LANIER. Their second son is named John - was this John named for his father? Their third boy is William, possibly named for Thomas's oldest brother? Maybe this is our William DANIEL. Now, let's take a look at the girls. The oldest is Sarah, possibly named for Sarah BARKER, the wife of Robert LANIER. Their second girl is named Mary. Was she named for his mother? Their 3rd daughter was named, Elizabeth. I think that Simon of Edgecombe. Thomas of Tyrrell, John or Northampton and possibly this William are related but are they siblings, cousins or a combination, thereof.
