Good Evening, I have been looking over, with some interest, the Orange County, VA records for the DANIEL family. Generally, this family seems to be a part of the Charles DANIEL, Sr. and Jane MICKELBOROUGH family of Middlesex, later Orange County, VA but I think it also includes the Robert DANIEL and Penelope LEE family but the information I have available to me is conflicting. We also have the Reuben DANIEL family, which is part of this same Middlesex DANIEL bunch, also sitting in Orange County, VA in this time frame. In 1782, there is a Robert DANIEL living in Orange County, VA, adjacent to the list at the end of this message. I also know the MACHEN family is tied to some of this overall DANIEL family and as late as 1808 Robert DANIEL is on guardianship bonds for some of these MACHEN kids. Who this Robert cannot be. He cannot be the Robert (1727-BEF 1782) who married Penelope LEE because this Robert supposedly died BEF 1782, unless that information is correct. He cannot be the Robert DANIEL, son of Charles, Jr. and Sarah TAIT because he was only 6 when this 1782 list was made by William ROWLAND. So, who is this Robert DANIEL of Orange County, VA who was at least 21 in 1782 and was still living there in 1808. In my opinion, this Robert DANIEL smells to be part of the Reuben DANIEL (1721-1799) and one of his various wives of Orange County, VA. Or, he could also be Robert DANIEL, Jr. son of Robert DANIEL and Penelope LEE. Most of the other parts of this DANIEL family, including Peter and the DUNCANS are on other lists but are not living close to this Robert DANIEL. The one thing that really interests me is the MACHEN connection. Notice the John BROWN in the following list. In 1820 in Burke County, GA a John B. BROWN is living adjacent to Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) of Burke.
