While reading the "History of Truro Parish in Virginia" by Rev. Philip Slaughter, a very interesting bit of information popped up in one of only a couple of genealogies presented. Having previously discovered that Catherine GUNNELL, d/o Henry GUNNELL and Catherine O'DANIEL of Fairfax, Virginia, had married an Unknown COFFER, and now this book listing Francis COFFER, 1748-Aft 1802, and wife Unknown GUNNELL, it seemed a reasonable fit for two pieces of a puzzle found in different locations. Francis and Catherine's son Thomas COFFER, 1773-1862, and wife, Ann SIMPSON with their eight children and spouses, and Francis's father, Thomas Withers COFFER, 1713-1781, who m. Mary FARGUSON, and grandfather, Francis COFFER, 1683-1740, who m. Mary Littlejohn WITHERS are also named.
