Records that I have for Seth Daniel: 1807, Seth Daniel married Mary KENNEDY on March 12, 1807, in Effingham County, Georgia. Other Daniels getting married early in that County were Josiah Daniel and Elizabeth DIXON in 1772, John DANIEL and Hannah DAMMONS in 1775, and Josiah DANIEL and Sarah CAMPBELL in 1795. (John, I suspect that the reason that folks have her as a DIXON is because that is how it is transcribed in Effingham Co, GA MARRIAGES From 1754 to 1850, page 3. It was written as Elizabeth "DISON" in the "EBENEZER RECORD BOOK 1754-1781: Births, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Effingham, Georgia, More Commonly Known as Ebenezer Church." This book was translated and edited by George F. Jones and Sheryl Exley, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. Baltimore, MD, 1991. And I quote: "1772....Josiah Daniel and Elisabeth Dison both of Carolina, have been lawfully married on the 23 Day of April. (In English)" This book was a translation and compilation of the records kept by the capable and well educated ministers of Ebenezer Church in those early years. The notation in parentheses at the end of this particular entry "(In English)" meant that the entry in the record book was written in the English language, NOT their native German language, so there was in fact NO "translating" that the editors of this book had to do on entries bearing that "In English" notation.
