Kevin, Nancy DANIEL (ABT 1765-1828), w/o Eden COLEMAN (ABT 1764-1817), was the mother of Cynthia Ann COLEMAN (1797-1869) who married James Hunter RALLS (1793-1824) -- all of Greene County, GA. James and Cynthia's daughter, Ann Eliza RALLS (1819-1872) married Elisha Sparks HUNTER, Jr.(1814-1852) of Greene County, GA and their daughter, Mary Lou HUNTER (1848-1917) married my grand uncle, Charles W. RICHTER, Jr (1837-1907) of Madison, Morgan County, GA. The SANFORDS, GIBBS, WYNNE and NEWSON, ATKINSONS and CLARKS were also in this little group. The COLEMANS were descendants of a Daniel COLEMAN and a Unity CARROLL, of VA, we think. If you will note, the COFFEES, CARROLLS, CUNNINGHAMS, CARLTONS and the KELSO-DANIEL bunch floated, together, from VA to NC and then to GA. The RALLS or RAWLS were from Overwharton Parish, Stafford County., VA, later Amherst County, VA and my thought is the COLEMANS were probably also part of this VA bunch. Vincent SANFORD (1777-1859) of Greene County, GA married Cynthia Ann COLEMAN (1797-1869) in 1832 after James Hunter RALLS died. They had one son, Vincent Seadman SANFORD, later Dean of the University of GA. What the KY deed you listed is telling me is these folks were from a northern VA DANIEL family from the Stafford and probably the Augusta County, VA area, which fits right in with the Kelso-DANIEL bunch, as well as the COFFEES, CUNNINGHAMS and the others we already know from this area of VA. Families, which also migrated to Greene County, GA along with most of these family. The answer may lie in PE County, VA since the Coffees, Cunningham's and some of the others later migrated to GA from this area. This is just more evidence that Thomas DANIEL of Greene County, GA was a VA DANIEL and quite possibly out of this same COFFEE-KELSO-CUNNINGHAM-DANIEL bunch that also migrated to Greene County, GA since their descendants marry into this overall bunch, as well as the fact -- they meet the profile of this bunch. I also do not know how an eastern NC family like the BURNEYS fits in all of this, if at all. We know that some say Thomas DANIEL married a Sarah BURNEY and some say he married a Sarah RANDALL. I would almost bet money the RANDALLS were a part of this group, since they were also a VA family and they are all over them, later. However, who Thomas DANIEL actually married, I do not know but my bet would be -- the mother of his children was a RANDALL, as opposed to being a NC BURNEY. There is one other possibility, there was a James Gillespie BIRNEY (1767-1839) who married a Martha REED. He migrated from IRELAND to Danville, Mercer County, KY and his descendants, later, to Huntsville, Madison County, AL. My notes on this BIRNEY state he migrated first to PA and then to KY and we know that some of this CUNNINGHAM-COFFEE-CARROLL, CARLTON, etc bunch also seems to have come this exact same route to GA. Due to the slavery issue, some of these BIRNEYS moved back to Maryland before the CW. This is a real possibility for this Sarah BURNEY and these BIRNEYS do meet the profile of this bunch. We also know the REEDS were also an Augusta County, VA family and a lot of this bunch seems to have migrated through that area of VA to GA and they were all either first of second generation Irish families. A connection, I do not know but what I do know is -- the family of General William M. BIRNEY (1819-1907) and Catherine HOFFMAN of Forest Glen, MD is related to my bunch. In fact, their son, Theodore Weld BIRNEY, Esq. (1854-1897) married Charles RICHTER's cousin, Alice Josephine McCLELLAN (1858-1907) of Marietta, GA, in 1892 as her second husband. She had previously married Alonzo James WHITE, Jr. Esq. (1845-1877), who was out of the Blake Leah WHITE family of Charleston. Alice was my 2C1R and Alice was also the name of my grandmother, Alice E. DANIEL (1854-1924), born four years before Alice McCLELLAN. The McCLELLANS were from Horry County, SC, before they migrated to Marietta, GA and tied up with my TATUM bunch, there. The TATUMS and the RICHTERS had migrated from St. Croix, DWI to GA in the 1830-1840 time frame -- Margaret POTTER (1810-1863) married Jesse TATUM and her older sister, Anne Eliza POTTER (1808-1863), married Charles W. RICHTER, Sr. The mother of these POTTER girls was a Margaret WHITE (1790-1849), d/o a Captain John WHITE, so we see the WHITE connection once again in this bunch. Before then, the TATUMS were of Barbados and were tied to, get this, the WAINWRIGHTS. My overall bunch also seems to be nothing but a St. Croix, Barbados and Charleston extended family with possibly links to NC and VA. What I do not know is whether my DANIEL bunch, who also tie into the RICHTERS, was a part of this VA bunch in Greene County, GA or they were from another DANIEL line with links to this same area in SC. My guess is the latter. John R.
