Good Morning, This BIO of James H. DANIEL of Millen, Jenkins County, GA was recently posted to the Burke County, GA GENWEB website. It is attached, below. Some say that James H. DANIEL married a Mary HENDRICKS but that is not the case, unless HENDRICKS was her married name.. They also state in this BIO he was born in 1831 and not the 1832 date often listed for him. James Hiram DANIEL was a son of Zachariah DANIEL and Alia DUBBERYL and a grandson of Aaron DANIEL, Jr. and Mary STANALAND, according to my information, which seems to be partly confirmed by this BIO. I also know this DANIEL family owned a large, fancy hotel in Millen, at some point. I also know that some of my DANIEL family members (TARVER descendants) were buried in the same cemetery in Millen where this DANIEL was buried, but I do not know if they were connected or not. These TARVERS and these DANIELS also seem to have been associated with the railroad and my direct bunch in Jefferson County, GA were also associated with the GA Railroad. I also know the PALMER family of Burke County, GA were closely associated with my DANIEL bunch in Burke and the mercantile business is a common link to my family in Madison, GA, also in the mercantile business. We need to straighten out this DANIEL family is the will of Aaron DANIEL, Sr. or his wife, Betsy WHITFIELD. They are both active members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and he is a member of the Masonic fraternity. In 1855 he was made tax receiver of Burke County and held the office two years. He was then employed as a mail clerk for two years and was then promoted to conductor, and afterward became a railroad agent at Millen. He also established a general mercantile business in 1876, which has seen been continued. He is a partner in the firm of Daniel Sons & Palmer, and owns large farming interests in both Burke and Screven Counties. Mr. Daniel has about 20,000 acres of land, a large number being in cultivation, in tilling which he runs about 130 plows; his cotton production being about 1,500 bales annually. Mr. Daniel is one of the best businessmen in Screven County, and handles the reins of his vast interests without any apparent responsibility. Payne, I have seen it listed anywhere from 10 to 12 children but I only have additional information on 6 of these. The date you have for their marriage is the same as I have and the location for their marriage is Tattnall County, GA. I have seen Alley and Alia but I think the latter is correct.
