Mike, Very interesting. Now, look at this (below). Notice the DEAN in this and remember that one of my LANE girls married an Isaac PARKER in Greene or Wayne County, NC. Contrary to what some may think and I cannot tell you how close all of these families were. IMHO, it all smells of the same overall DANIEL bunch since another LANE girl married Robert C. DANIEL and Council is a real possibility for his middle name. I tend to think this is the LANE, ISHAM and DANIEL family out of Surry. That, is sure where it seems to point. Also remember where the LANIERS, BARKERS and that bunch was from -- Surry County, VA. As for me, I have never bought into that HUGH DANIELL story for the primary reason is there is no Hugh found down the road in this family and for that not to happen, would be extremely rare. This does not mean that I do not think that Thomas and Simon were not brothers. I think they were...... <<< I watch the WOOTENS pretty closely. Lucy COUNCIL married Richard WOOTEN, Jr. Lucy was the d/o Hodges COUNCIL and Lucy HARDY. Lucy and Richard's son, William WOOTEN, born 1705, married an Elizabeth Ann DEAN. Another son, John WOOTEN, married Mary JOHNSTON and their son, Council WOOTEN married Mary BURNEY, d/o Simon BURNEY, Sr. and Louisa PUGH. Simon was the brother of Sarah BURNEY who married Thomas DANIEL, (I think, Jr.), son of Thomas DANIEL and Elizabeth LANIER. >>> John R. Mike, On second thought about Thomas and Simon. Probably brothers but they could have been cousins. I do think the CULLENS have some play in this and we know that Thomas POLLOCK married a CULLEN and we also know that Thomas POLLOCK was young Thomas's guardian. I also think the BRYANS or BRYANTS were part of this bunch as were the others in this little group that I have identified, before. I still think they were Surry and not IOW but maybe IOW, early, but not by the time frame we are talking about. My best guess is -- it was James City and then Surry but that is just a guess. John R.
