    3. A researcher sent me this DANIEL information and I thought I would share it with you. <<< Source: Loyalist of New Jersey by E. Alfred Jones, Published originally by the NJ Historical Society and now available in reprint from Heritage Books, MD. p.270 lists several Daniel(s). Joel Daniel of Cumberland county (which before 1747 was still part of Salem co) was subject to an inquisition in 1778. Against John Daniels of Salem County, a judgement was made 1778-9 - that would be when he lost his lands, that you saw in the Forfeited Estates post. This says he went to Shelburne, Nova Scotia at the Peace and offers for source references ; Newspaper Extracts from Volume II of NJ Archives p.470; also Vol. III p. p. 369 and Sabine's "Loyalists of the American Revolution" 2 Vols., ed.of 1864 p.503 One more, a Joseph Daniels, thought to be of Salem County but not specifically stated, who was implicated in a murder crime, also seen the same page in Sabine's volume. Mrs. Ellie Kidd, who is the Archivist for the Clerk at the Salem County Courthouse, had compiled a list of "Loyalist papers on file" which was printed in the Newsletter of the Genealogical Society of Salem County, April 1996, Vol. 3, Issue 3; Military Edition, p.7. According to that, there is only a file for one John Daniels, of Lower Alloways Creek Township, which says he joined the British Army.(file # 29) If you would like copy of that, you can contact her at ekidd@salemco.org and ask. Costs are about $2.00 a sheet I think, these generally are only a page or two. >>> John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA
