    1. [DANIEL-L] Union Co SC McDANIEL's ~ Later possibly DANIEL???
    2. Thanks Ken and Mike.... Regarding the "transports" ~ that's about how I had figured... and sorta reminds me of the Civil War... first one side, then the other... gotta get more land. If no one minds, I'll probably go ahead at some point and send the rest of the DANIELLs listed in the C & P Books... maybe their "seagoing companions" will offer up some clues. Below might help someone ~ Permission to post from Ginny Keefer who originally placed it on the Lincoln County, Tennessee list. <ginnykeefer@comcast.net> Heritage Book of Union County, South Carolina, with McDANIEL's in it. Lemuel McDANIEL, Sr, born 1796 and died 1886, of Ireland. His wife, Mary, was born 1794 and died in 1885. The potato famine caused them to leave their beloved Ireland to come to America in 1820. From Ireland they are said to have journeyed to Scotland then come to Pennsylvania, and the Allegheny Mountains, stopping at Hickory, NC. They have no idea of how long this family stayed in either place. They arrived in Pinckneyville, SC, before the census of 1850 with their children; John age 19, Julianna age 14, Mitchell age 12 and Lemuel age 10. They laborered as planters and belonged to Mt Tabor Presbyterian Church then joined Mr. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Union Co. It was from Pinckneyville that their sons, John and Lemuel Jr volunteered to join the War between the states on April 13, 1861. John was killed in service and Lemuel Sr. and Mary took four of his children into their home to raise. During the Civil War, Lemuel and Mary had moved into Union Co SC just below the present site of Rosemont Cemetery. It was here that Lemuel Jr returned after the surrender and engaged himself in Harvesting grain. He fell in love with one of the HUMPHRIES twin girls, Medora HUMPHRIES. They soon married. Madora was born December 16, 1846 and died October 22, 1922. To them were born nine children. Two died in infancy and seven lived to adulthood and married. They were; Ida, John Rufus, Robert Lee, Victoria, Kate, Lucy, and Mary Ann "Mame". Medora and Lemuel Jr are buried at Sardis Church Cemetery.
