Thank you, Martha Boggs. You have the right Joseph H. Daniel and Aletha Baylis aka Letha; however, you have my gg-grandparents and some dates incorrect. My gg-grandfather is John Lewis Daniel, rather than John Lucas. He was born August 18, 1855 in Jefferson County, Alabama, and died May 6, 1899 in Chepultepec (between Oneonta and Allgood), Blount County, AL. John Lewis Daniel married Dianah E. Woodard, rather than Diana Goodward, on Christmas Day, 1870, in Jefferson County, Alabama. I will post this family later. Martha, I will email you directly. And thank you, John. Your Baylis listing might be mine. After several years, it's such a pleasure to finally have another researcher actually recognize this family. Thank you very much for this day. Robin Nelson Alabama
Robin, All I can tell you about the RENEAUS is they were from Manikin Township, Henrico County, VA, early, and later they were located in northern VA -- PW County, VA area. Sometime around the time of the RW they kind of split up, part went over into PA and part went south into TN after the RW. The line that went north into the Ohio Territory became RENO and the part that came south kept the original spelling, RENEAU. Wilson County, TN was a hot spots for the RENEAUS, later Jefferson and Sevier County, TN. Known collaterals, including my DANIEL bunch from Jefferson County, GA, were the SEVIERS, RAMSEYS, NORRIS (some say MORRIS), FLEMING, ALEXANDER and CHRISTIAN - Augusta County, VA area. The ALDERMANS, CARLTONS and CHASTAINS were also collateral with the RENEAUS in Thomas County, GA. There was also a RENEAU bunch in Twiggs County, GA but they were not of my direct line, but still family... I have often considered the LEWIS as a possible, especially the James Lewis DANIEL I see floating around, but I have never been able to draw any connections but I know the Lewis name was a big time name in my overall bunch from Burke and Jefferson County, GA. The one thing I think is a real possibility -- they were in Morgan County, GA, early. The only names I can connect there are TARVER, JORDAN, WADSWORTH, WYSE/WISE, MURPHEY, GREEN, (FLANDERS, FLOURNOY or FLOURANCE) and COLLINS with RAIFORD, MARSHALL, QUINNEY, MOYE as other possibilities. Robin, you are right about the Goodward being Woodward/Woodard. I discovered that after I hit the send button. Thanks for the correction on John Lewis. And John, I'm glad your Bayliss might help Robin. This is the only one by that name in my files, so I couldn't be much help there. And if Payne is reading this, is the Manoah ROBERTSON you quote on your website related to the one who married Martha Elizabeth DANIEL, daughter of this Joseph Harrison DANIEL and Aletha BAYLIS? I have looked for him in the 1870 and 1880 censuses and can't find him. I did find a land record and a CW service record. Also Jesse P. DANIEL married Milly or Millie ROBERTSON. Is there a connection here? Robin, I look forward to getting your data on this collateral line to mine. And, I'll send my data to you, if you want it.
