    1. [DANIEL-L] RANDALS/RANDLES of Greene County, GA
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Good Morning, It has been long rumored the RANDALS or RANDLES of Greene County, GA were RALDOLPHS and that may well be true. The ISHAMS, LANES and RANDOLPHS were closer than thieves and point into the JEFFERSONS of Chesterfield County, VA. Dabney CARR, Esq. married Martha JEFFERSON and his CARR descendants point right into my RICHTER bunch in Morgan County, GA, which also has a DANIEL and LANE descendant in it. Alice E. DANIEL (1854-1924) was the great-grand daughter of Capt. Isham LANE RS-NC (ABT 1730-1801) of Greene County, NC. He was married to a Lewcy, probably Lucretia. He was the son of Thomas LANE who I think was a brother of Joseph LANE, Jr. who married Patience McKINNIE. Alice was the grand daughter of Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) and Penelope LANE, d/o Capt. Isham LANE of Greene County, NC. All confirmed. What is not confirmed is the parents of Robert C. DANIEL but I believe they point back into the family of either Simon DANIEL and Elizabeth ROGERS of Edgecombe County, NC or Thomas DANIEL and Elizabeth LANIER of Tyrrell and I do not know which may be the greater possibility. Lucy LANE may have also been an ALLEN, since that was the first given name found in Penelope's family. The C. in Robert's name may also have been CULLEN, since that was a given name in the family of Capt. Isham LANE but it could also have been COUNCIL or even Chesley. However, the one thing is -- this whole bunch points right back into the WHITFIELD and BRYANS families of Craven and Dobbs County, NC. Isham LANE of Craven has a RW Land Grant that was never claimed. Also, one of Penelope's brothers was a Bryan LANE and I am not against the possibility that Lucy LANE was a BRYAN or CULLEN, with those names figuring so prominently in her children's names. All of this makes me want to re-think my assignment of Thomas DANIEL (ABT 1740-1813) of Greene County, NC and consider the possibility he was a DANIEL out of this overall DANIEL line from Tyrrell or Edgecombe County, NC because of the many Halifax County, NC links in this overall family. If so, the BURNEY connections for him sound plausible and if these RANDLES were actually RANDOLPHS, long rumored to be the case, then this would match up too, especially if there is a LANE or ISHAM connection to this Thomas DANIEL or his wife. Your thoughts..... John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA
