Mike, the Eden of the abstract, that married Nancy Ann DANIEL of Greene Co., Ga., is the correct personage. John, there were two old Alston families in Halifax County and maybe Warren Co., as well. Gideon Alston lived on the same street in Littleton with my grandparents. William Willie Daniel married Dollie Exun Alston. William was the parallel Daniel line with my folks. The Alstons who lived out in the county were black and one their kin lived next door to me in Lakeland for two years. He knew all the white Alstons as well as he knew his folks. The name Joseph John was very popular in the Daniel line. Do you have the lineage for Joseph John Alston or a Robert Lee Alston born 8 Mar 1867? Payne, None of these folks were black. That, I will assure you. I was talking about people born in the early 1700's and later, not the late 1870's. . To set the record straight, Joseph John ALSTON was a white male born 1702 in Chowan District, NC, the son of John ALSTON, Jr. and Mary CLARK of Chowan District, NC. He died in Halifax County, NC in 1781. He married Elizabeth CLANCY, also white, ABT 1725 and they had eight children, according to my information. Sorry I did not put the dates and more specifics in my post but I was only showing what appeared to be a connection between these COLEMANS and this bunch. Sometimes I assume that others generally know these NC close families, about as well as I do, and I for this I am sorry I did not explain it more fully. I do not carry anybody, except for my close bunch, that was born after 1850. I am not even interested in late 19th Century, early 20th Century DANIEL related family links, only those links before 1850, especially those before 1800. The reason I am not interested in these late connections is because these late connections are not generally in error, too many tombstones and wills have survived for that to happen. The errors that we find are early, not late, due to tombstones that have disappeared over time and courthouse records that have been lost to fire and other causes. John R.
