    1. RE: [DANIEL-L] Daniel roll call
    2. Daniel, Doyle A.
    3. My DNA is on file if it helps. What is the DNA # for William's sons? -----Original Message----- From: Lucy Gray [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, May 13, 2006 9:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [DANIEL-L] Daniel roll call Jack, I have kept this e-mail of yours stating what you think of the Daniel lines. It was good. I do wish I could find out who Jonas Daniel was who evident brought the younger Daniels to Campbellton. No will so we don't know whether he had any children or not. I went to the 95th birthday party for a McGeachy cousin in Chipley today. A fellow I have mentioned to you before was there. C. J. Porter is his name. He is retired from Bell South. He says he doesn't know much about his family. I suggested he e-mail you to see if you might know what Porter he might have come from. I told him you were busy writing a book so he won't expect you to take a lot of time with his question. I promise not to pass your name on to anyone else as I hope you'll get back to the West Florida Daniels. Back when I was active on the list, however, I said that I believed that at least some of the Liberty County, Georgia, Daniel bunch were descendants of John Daniel of IOW through John Daniel of Northampton County, NC. That has now been proven by DNA for descendants of Joseph Daniel of Liberty County. I will now extend that to say that I believe that Abraham Daniel of Liberty County and Ezekiel Daniel of Washington County, GA are also out of that line. I believe that this will also be borne out by DNA. Lucy, I believe that this also applies to nearly all of the Daniels in Jackson and Gadsden Counties before 1830 - and to most of those who were in Dale County, AL. I believe that most of the Daniels in Dale, Barbour, and Pike Counties, AL by 1840 were related. It will be interesting to see how the DNA shakes out. Jonas was in Washington County, Georgia for the 1820 census. He is in Jackson County, Florida by 1824 with 12 whites in his household and 35 slaves. He died by 1832 possibly out of state. Josiah Daniel, son of William 1760/70, and John Brett, Jr. were administrators of Jonas' estate. In 1834 Josiah requested guardianship of Moses Daniel who we think could have been a son of Jonas if he had any children. We find Moses in Dale County, Alabama in the 1830 census. Stephen born 1793 was from Washington County, Georgia and arrived in Jackson County, Florida by 1824. He went to Alabama for a short time and ended up in Washington County, Florida where he died. He was married to an Irwin. The DNA tests of the descendants of William's (1760/70) sons, Josiah and Williams, and Stephen matched that of John of Isle of Wight CO. Virginia.
