Hi Pam & all, I'm in a Shepherd maze and hope someone can help me find my way out. From info sent to me by Mike - [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) - on 9/21/05, the following: Shepherd Daniel b. bef. 1774, was a son of James Daniel b. 1730, d. 1789 in Halifax Cty., NC and Elizabeth West b. bef 1758, (daughter of William West and Martha). Siblings of Shepherd are listed as West b. 1770, Patsey, b. before 1771, Ephraim b. bef. 1772, Milly b. bef. 1776, Margaret (called Peggy) b. bef. 1789. Shepherd Daniel b. bef. 1804, son of West Daniel b. 1770 and Rebecca Lanier, daughter of Shepherd Lanier and Lucy Smith. I have found a Shepherd Daniel listed in the Iredell Co., NC census records of 1820, 1830, 1840. Could he be the son of West Daniel and Rebecca Lanier? (There's also a West Daniel in the 1820 Iredell Co., NC census). Another Shepherd: my great grandfather Shepherd L. Daniel b. 1836 in Iredell Co., NC. According to the late Minnie Hall of the Grayson Co., Va. Historical Society, his parent's (my gg grandparents) were Shepherd Daniel of NC and Mary Moss. I don't know when my gr grandfather Shepherd L. Daniel moved to Va., but his residence was Grayson Co., Va. in 1861, when he enlisted as a Confederate soldier. He lived in Grayson Co. until his death in 1918. I would sure appreciate any information which would help connect (or not) the gg grandfather Shepherd Daniel of Iredell Co. to West Daniel and Rebecca Lanier. Much thanks to Pam, Mike and others who have helped me before with this "Shepherd" issue which never seems to end. This has been my brick wall for a long time. Regards, Pat
