    1. Mecklenburg VA Land Records for Daniel
    2. P. A. Miller
    3. Hi, all, These are Mecklenburg VA land records for Daniel. They are currently still in Bk-Pg order, not chronological, yuck. [My comments in brackets.] As of May 06 I've taken the index citesl through book 37 (=1870s), but I've only abstracted th deeds fully through Bk27, and some selected ones after that. I'm leaving the later blank cites in this post, in case someone gets around to doing more of the later deeds. Indices are films: 32530 Meck VA Genl Index to Deeds Grantees A-L 1765-1933 32528 Meck VA Genl Index to Deeds Grantors A-L 1765-1933 On mortgages, I only took details if for land or slaves, otherwise I just put something along the lines of "not real estate" or [household, stock]. But I got sucked in by a couple of them and got carried away. Charlie R., this is all the Martins, I had already done the early Martin ones in tracking the other Martin (son of John and Celia of Granville). This trip I was just finishing more of the stuff for my Tranquility page and filling out the first books (1-27). I've annotated especially for the Granville folks, their dealings were back and forth, two generations of Chesley and Judith's family ran various businesses in Granv and Meck. There are more deeds for James B. Daniel (son of James and Ann Venable Daniel) as grantor in 1850s that I didn't get to. Stark's wf is Phebe from the index. Some locations: Aaron's Creek is the boundary between Meck and Halifax then continues into Granville and over into Person. Buffalo Creek is in western Meck, running south off the Dan. Grassy Creek runs NE to SW from south central Meck into and across the NW section of Granville. Beaver Pond Creek starts SE of Clarksville, runs SW into Granville. Island Creek is very south central, becomes the border between Granville and Vance NC. Butchers Creek runs north-south, a little west of central Meck (i.e. between Clarksville and Boydston. Skipwith's Ferry is just a touch north of Clarksville. Eastland Creek is central, running up from the Dan towards Boydton. Poll/Pole Bridge? There are various Pole Bridge Branches in VA, can't find one in Meck, this would really pin down William and Margaret Daniel. Their son William later sells land on the Pole Bridge and Eastlands Creek, so I think that's where it is. Allens Creek runs SE to NW across center of county. Taylors Creek is hard northeast, running into Brunswick. Nutbush is southeast central running over into Vance/Warren NC. St. Tammany's Ferry is pretty hard south east, north of Warren NC. Maynards Ferry? Pittards Creek? Regards, Pam in CA ------ I did the first 6 books with TLC, and spot checked the ones I needed. Bk 5 on are from originals, with 5-6 also from TLC.
