Does anyone have Matthew Daniel b. abt 1786, m. Elizabeth, children: George, Rachel, Calvin, Green and possibly Joseph? They're on the 1860 Person County, NC, census. Rosalyn Sumner
Hi, Rosalyn, Turns out Matthew's father was also a Matthew (d.1825, md.1 Rachel Satterfield, mother of the children, then md.2 Agatha Marr (widow of Perkins and Paine)). The family write-up that suggests the father is John seems to make that leap based on a John being an early settler of the area (if I'm talking about the same source you found, the Person County Heritage). The family looks to be from Pittsylvania VA, came down to Caswell/Person then back up to Pittsylvania; I haven't seen anything to relate them to James of Albemarle. You can get my notes at http://pamiller.net/genealogy/docs/danielmathew.htm but I need to adjust and soften my proposal about the possible link to the later families of Wayne TN: I didn't disprove it but didn't find much help for it on a recent SLC run at it (maybe some depending on where the Brewers came from before Wayne TN). I found out that Matthew married Elizabeth Lea, d/o Carter Lea and that Matthew's father was John. My Daniels were in Granville, Person, Caswell and Orange. Rosalyn
