Ruth, A contributor to this list sometime back indicated that Nathan's (son of Joseph and Sarah (Barnes)) wife Sarah and a son Amos were administrators of his estate according to his 1809 Putnam Co. GA will. There was also mention of Nathan's son Stephen who signed some of Nathan's estate papers but none of Alexander. Mike -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, 31 May 2006 21:56:50 -0700 Subject: [DANIEL-L] Amos Daniel in Washington Co., GA - b. btwn 1770 and 1780 I have two brothers, James Daniel, b. 1797 in GA & Alexander Daniel, b. 1799 in GA and believe there might be a connection to Amos Daniel from what I can see in the census. . Amos is listed in the 1820 Washington Co., GA census as being 45+. At the very least he would have to be b. in 1775. Living with Amos is two white males 16-26, which would have made them b. between 1794 and 1804 - which corresponds nicely with my 2 brothers. Amos is not listed in the 1830 Washington Co. GA census as Head of House. Alexander Daniel is listed - with a white male 50-60. That would make this unknown man b. between 1770 and 1780 - again corresponding to the range of Amos Daniel's age in the 1820 census. James Daniel settled in Monroe Co., AL about 1824 and married Lydia Davis (dau. of John Davis and Elizabeth Murphy). Alexander also migrated to Monroe Co., AL about 1835 and married there in 1836 - probably because of the death of the white male listed in the census. On this small thread, I'd like to believe that Amos was that man listed liviing with Alexander Daniel in the 1830 census. Large stretch - Does anyone see a connection between this Amos Daniel and Nathan Daniel, son of Joseph Daniel and Sarah Barnes? Mike Thanks for the reply. I had done a search for "Amos" on the Daniel List Archives and didn't find anything. I'll have to re-do that search. Just for clarity, I'm researching this Daniel line to see if Alexander and James were the sons of Amos who was listed in the 1820 Washington Co., GA census. The next question is "Was this Amos the same Amos in Putnam Co., GA, who was the son of Nathan." Cenus age comparison indicates that it is very possible that this is Amos the son of Nathan. It appears that if this is Amos of Putnam Co. then it was probably his brother Stephen who was also in Washington Co. during the 1820's per the census and some court records regarding the sale of some mills. I also checked the Daniel DNA website to see if there has been any contributors for the "Joseph Daniel/Sarah Barnes" line in the results & don't seem to find any. I'm still using alot of possible's and maybe's & would like to seek out more documentation. - Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 5:13 AM Subject: Re: [DANIEL-L] Amos Daniel in Washington Co., GA - b. btwn 1770 and 1780 > Ruth, > > A contributor to this list sometime back indicated that Nathan's (son of Joseph and Sarah (Barnes)) wife Sarah and a son Amos were administrators of his estate according to his 1809 Putnam Co. Ruth, There was a Stephen Daniel in Washington County, GA in the early 1820's who went to Jackson County, Florida by 1824. He was married to an Irwin. According to the DNA tests he is related to my William Daniel 1760/70 line. There may have been to Stephen Daniels there in the same time period. There were certainly many William Daniels there in the GA area!!
