William O'DANIEL, b. ca 1691, d. ca 1728, said to be "probably a recent immigrant" by Fairfax Harrison in Tyler's Quarterly, married Frances, and had two Northern Neck Land Grants, 1717 and 1724, on Accotink Creek, in that part of Stafford County that became Fairfax County in 1742. Their children: John, b. 1718, died in Fairfax, VA in 1799; William (II), b. ca 1720, migrated to Craven Co., SC in 1754, died in Kershaw Co., SC in 1796; James, b. 1721, migrated to Craven Co., SC in 1754, then moved to Hancock Co., GA circa 1790 where he died in 1798; Elizabeth (William SCUTT) ca 1723 - bef 1755, died Fairfax, VA?; Catherine (Henry GUNNELL) ca 1725- aft 1792, died Fairfax, VA; Ann ( Unknown JONES) ca 1727 - aft 1758, known only by her being named in the 1755 LW&T of her mother, Frances O'Daniel GLADIN. This was the last generation that used the O'. Between 1740 and 1800, John's and William's families became DANIEL; James' family became DANIELL. DANIELS appeared in some lines after 1850.
