Ellis Buffington, abt 1780 - 1858, married Catherine Daniel, both of the Cherokee Nation East (TN/NC). Ellis also married Lydia Snow Wright and apparently they had one child, Missouri Buffington born abt 1789. Ellis and Catherine had 5 children and I need help with their dates of birth? Catherine was the daughter of Marmaduke and Nanny Still Daniel and at present I have Marmaduke unassigned and not to be confused with the other prominent Marmadukes that get mixed up from time to time. Shirley and I spent some time looking at the Rolls kept in the Cherokee Museum in Oklahoma and found the name Abney shown as Cherokee. So, any help with the Daniel or Abney Cherokees will be of interest. Shirley is 1/8 Cherokee through the Johnson's and Abneys of Georgia and Alabama. They did not all go west to the Cherokee Nation. It may be interest that the leader of the Cherokee movement West was only 1/4 Cherokee. Additionally can anyone explain why Marmaduke Daniel was known as the "Mississippi Free Booter". This leads one to believe that he was not from Virginia or it's environs? Have a nice week end ya'll. Payne
