His father was Hardison Daniel. Hardison is buried in Stewart County TN and so was Benjamin Woodson Daniel who we think was his kin by either grandfather or uncle. Wasn't Reuben a son of Ben Woodson Daniel? Ben had 10 listed in the 1830 census and pretty old then. He lived to be over 87 (as he was alive on the 1840 census and listed in Stewart County as one of three living Rev. War Vets.)
